grumbler
I'm looking at several Pat's baits for sale. How can one tell they are genuine from pics? What should I be looking for and seeing in pictures of a real Pat's? Thanks!

grumbler
I could have worded the question better. How would I be able to tell? Thanks! Edited January 25, 2019 by grumbler

Thanks! from what I know, no 2 fakes are going to be the same, sometimes its the lip, sometimes its the paint, sometimes its the joints that give it away. Your best bet is going to be have someone look at the pics whos been around real pats and owns real pats. There isn't one thing I can tell you to look for, especially if you havent owned pats in the past.
deaknh
If its selling over $500, it's a pats. Caldeltarat
chefchris
The one distinctive feature of pats baits are the face/head are incredibly round, like a legit 1/2 circle tail section is always very short even on the bigger baits. Eyes are always round pupil and almost always silver backed stock hooks are the kvd short shank style all the fakes/clones I’ve seen it’s very easy to tell. grumbler

Like these have a longer back section, and the lip is wider at the bottom than where it meets the body, and these are plastic another way to tell is pat uses one screw eye on the joint connection from each section, where a lot of the guys are using two. And his tolerances are super close, very little wiggle room up and down in the joint
bigpoppabass
Sometimes they will glow like et's heart in a dark room reminding you that they have magic in em. That is another good way of knowing if it is a real pats.
