aholodnick Posted May 18, 2019 Report Share Posted May 18, 2019 Went out to a small lake near my house trying to do a little birthday bassin. The weather was cloudy and high 60’s, not too much wind. Got to the lake about 6:30pm and started working my way around the bank, casting the 5” wrs around. I saw some smaller bass in the shallows and they hit the wrs but didn’t eat it fully. I kept walking and casting and didn’t get anything, but there is one small area where there is small lane cleared out in the reeds and this was the last spot I was going to hit. I walk up to the spot and there’s a decent amount of trees and stuff in my way, but I pitch the wrs to the end of the clearing and start a medium retrieve. About 2/3 of the way back and I get hit. I didn’t realize how big it actually was until I flipped it onto the bank. My new Dobyns 795 x Daiwa Tatula 200 handled the fish well. I was screaming for my little brother to come over to me. My dad says he thought I was dying, but I was just so hyped. Fish went 7.08 on the scale and I about died. An absolute slob for the PNW.
