Jake_M_Fishing
I recently bought a Roman made negotiator and it came with a red tail. I don’t really like the tails color, so I went on eBay and you can buy different color tails. How should I remove the original tail and glue the new one in? I haven’t personally switched tails but I would think taking an exact-o knife or thin blade of some sort and cut along each side then pull should work. And if you salvage the tail I’ll buy it from you!
urbanhick
Heads up before you remove the tail, a new tail is 25 bucks.
tHeINFamoUS
This was the process I employed with my RM’s: cast bait, reel in, repeat over two trips.....and they fell out on their own even though I didn’t want them to I’d try a set of needle nose and gently applied pressure before the blade. Mine really only had a couple drops of epoxy holding em it, that’s why they fell off so easy.

And in my experience have caught a lot of fish on them and never an issue. I believe I’ve used around 6 different negos and tricks over the years. tHeINFamoUS
Nah, once they fell out I searched SU to see if there were replacements and found threads where a bunch of others had the same issue. I followed the advice posted and got replacement tails from RMUSA. Also had a lip fall off a trick.....still sitting on my wall waiting for a new one. A dozen casts is all it took for the tail in my Dave Sans trout to fall out. The big issue was the 25 dollar replacement cost of the tail. I got lucky and was given one by a member here. S33z3r
Interesting. I'd assume with such a high end bait those issues wouldn't exist...
