bigpoppabass
Good self diagnosis, a more flexible rod will also help when structure banging. Nice work at night. Stephenk
CaliBassin
Definitely could be the rod. I have the same problem. Don’t miss them but the hooks always pull out. Almost like throwing a deep diving crank on a frog rod. Just not enough give. Nice fish Stephenk

Only thing is hard to have a rod that will throw it with ease and still have a good bend but only learning lessen . Thanks CaliBassin
bigpoppabass
Feeling a rod load up is a blast. I have a fiberglass rod for shellcracker and fish don't come unbuttoned once the rod loads up. My 4x4 and pats rod (buds old punching rod) is a weird one a bps extreme series extra fast rod rated for 1-3 oz. Stephenk

It is an awesome sb cranking rod within its weight range. 4x4, pats, bucca gills, and glides. Soft top with meat at bottom makes for good hooksetts.
