Onthefly_25
Hey y'all, I'm looking to do a silent killer conversion to a slide swimmer. and I have three questions. 1. What is your favorite tungsten putty to use? 2. What is the factory mass of the belly weight? 3. What is your personal preferred mass you use? I can't seem to find the posts in the Underground. Thought I'd turn to the bait makers. Thank you for your help
El_Weruso
Not sure on what exact weight to use but i wouldn't ever use tungsten putty since over time the tungsten putty will begin to flow out from the cavity and become gummy which will stick. It's a pain to remove the skin when that begins to happen. I just sent out my 250 to be tuned or tune it myself doing a sink rate test as i go in my fish tank. But i couldn't give you specifics since i never noted the weight, just wanted to warn you about the tungsten putty.

I don't have the equipment to melt pure tungsten. Lead is out too as it is illegal for everywhere I fish
Tony91723
Yup, listen to neil. I've had the same issue. To get the bait to 180 grams, you'll have tungsten putty spilling out of the hole. This will gum up and run like mentioned.
ewillsd
Idea! may or may not work but it's worth a shot. Mold the putty into the shape and size desired, then dip the putty in oppoxy to make a shell around the putty so that it wont run or ruin the shell. Or just try to find a way to encase the putty in some fashion.
Rogervang
Is it an OG or new silent killer? I'm asking because just fyi, the tail weight will need to be remove. the new injected ones have the weight molded inside the bait. Lead is out too as it is illegal for everywhere I fish Like Roger said, For OG: I would get heavy punching tungsen weights used for regular fishing and place that in the belly. It'll be awkward since they're not cylindrical in shape which I and I repeat I as in me would drill in the foam body of the bait and place heavy tungsten punching weights as a substitute to lead. I'm no expert, just my advice. I'm not afraid to drill into my baits lol Onthefly_25
