Tomorrow, next month, next year, year after, this is our new normal. Hopefully medical is able to create a vaccine, to which the stupid anti-vaccers won't use anyway. Everything shut down festers poor health from people not getting exercise who physically need it to mental stress and illness associated with. Some people are afraid to go outside, not going to a doctor when they otherwise know they should. Bottom line, politicians are not qualified to make decisions about other peoples lives. As for a boat ramp, it's not even remotely as dangerous as going to a grocery store. I don't know about you or others reading but I'm at a grocery store every week. Sometimes more than once. Take precaution, be smart, no problem. And this around all those people and all the things they touch in an enclosed environment? Not that horribly dangerous fresh air outdoor boat ramp? Not to mention the distance apart on water? I can't hardly imagine how deadly that must be.... It's ridiculous we're not allowed to be there. It's stupid. This is true my lakes around here are pretty small and a lot of walkers so I can understand over why in my area everything closed.
lvl2bard
Our commie state gives us all these wonderful socialist ramps. But they need to be staffed and maintained for insurance and whatever else reasons. We'll be alright if we can play it cool a little bit longer for the betterment of everyone. They're just trying to learn from the past and keep the initial strain on society down. Just like in school 25 years ago, a few bad apples partying it up 20 deep on pontoon boats (without and regard for other humans) make the rest of us suffer. Last I understood, you can still go fish and boat, just not at our socialist ramps and parks. I'd go down to the river if the weather hasn't been absolute ish all month anyways. I slayed in March. brinkerhoff150
I get that this sucks but let’s think about this a bit more. Everyone is off or working from home etc. This means that normally quiet ramps have much higher use which isn’t good. Let’s say that’s not an issue. What do you need to propel your boat? So now everyone is going to the gas stations to fill their boats / grab supplies. More contact with people and surfaces that are rarely cleaned. Okay, you’re special and have a stockpile of gas and plenty of snacks, you going out alone or maybe with your best bud? You’ll stay 6 feet away? More contact with people. Maybe you go out solo but now there are lots of people out on the water. What if there’s an accident? There’s already strain on healthcare workers and first responders and they now need to divert attention to a boater. Keep in mind lots of these people, especially in New York are in the city helping out. As people have mentioned, these normally quiet areas are becoming packed. If you keep the northern NY waters open all that will do is incentivize people to travel - say people from NYC where there are thousands of cases. Of course the message is coming from a politician that you may love or hate. Hopefully they are getting sound information from public health officials. Yes this all really sucks but it’s a complicated scenario. 168 Rookie
CG_Fishes
Update for everyone who doesn't know. NY has reopened all boat ramps and marinas for public use. I'm not sure why they shut them down if it was only for 1 week but they have now been reopened at least for now ThatKidInNY
