Gear ratio for g2 shellcracker

What ratio are you using I’ve been using a 6.4 but it’s hard to keep it waking it starts to dive. I’m thinking about dropping down to a 5.4.

I use a 7.1.1, with the higher speed reels is all about self control, not about the bait.

Slow as you can go.

I use a 6.2/1.   Have to slow down a little bit with this one but not too bad. Also found that using mono and braid helped keep it up. Used it on flouro and it wanted to dive.

I use straight mono 15lb big game

5:1 or if you fish abu’s, they make a 4.something:1

I run a 6.2:1 Curado 301e.  Works well - just have to force yourself to turn the handle slowly.  You can practice this at home - see how long you can take to inch a weight across the floor without ever stopping the reel.
