chefchris Posted June 29, 2020 Report Share Posted June 29, 2020 My main homie and fishing partner Scott and I headed out last night to one of “go to” spots in a last ditch effort to hang some fish before we stopped going there. This pond has been on our rotation list for like 5 years, always puts up good fish numbers and size wise (the fish here fight insane) but this year it’s sucked, 8 trips and 3 fish so far. last year on the same date we got into a crazy rat/top water bite due to a weed kill so we hit it last night and it paid off. we each had a fish within the first 10-15 casts and steady action all night. Fish were blowing up on rats, toxic whipped snapper, psycho gill and my “pats” clone Scott says “let’s hit the deeper edge as we always seem to stick a good fish there” he makes a cast over the drop off point and half way back this fish explodes on it. The sound was great as it was flat calm and no noise on the pond. The fish hit and swam towards us at first, then made a hard turn and that’s when he knew it was a solid fish. Couple cranks and and she slides into the net, can tell right away it a solid 5. She ended up weighing 5.4, some pics and measurements and off she went. i ended up with 7 fish, all between 15-17”, every time Scott would net one he’d say “same fish” I got 3 on the toxic whippersnapper 2.0 and 4 on my 3 piece rat, I also got a bluegill on the toxic. Scott ended up with 6 and big fish honors. i dropped a big fish as we were leaving on the last point on the cl8 baby possum.
