CrankinBass
I've been watching a lot of swimbait fishing in Japan, and many anglers are throwing big hard bait lures like jan-crafts, and deps swimbaits on snap swivels. Its there a reason for this? I thought snap swivels unbalanced a heavy bait in the water?
SwimbaitsatLMV
First, most if not all are using snaps, not snap swivels. And a snap doesn't really unbalance the bait as much as change the swim action by providing more freedom.

donkeychaser
decoy snap or hyper wire split ring or direct tie for me
oh ok
Direct tie to split ring or bait only for me. After losing quite possibly the biggest fish of my life last year on a 60# snap that straightened like nothing I said never again. I thought I had broke off and once I reeled in the line I saw a perfectly straightened snap. I still get sick to my stomach thinking about last September
BHud4
striaght to the lure is the way i prefer to throw my hard swimmers.. specially the bigger baits becuase like mentioned i have striaghted a snap before too..
evilcatfish
I feel like I get better action from my waking type lures with a snap or split ring. Or maybe I'm crazy Other lures like TTs and Hudds don't seem to benefit from snaps, or once again maybe I'm nuts. Just my .
