Events

SU Japan Tour:

Last March, Swimbait Underground was represented at Keep Cast for the first time.  We were fortunate enough to be able to share a booth with the Division Rebel Tackles team to offer our Keep Cast Limited Package as well as some gear.  The limited pack included a special color Roach made by Rago Baits, along with a custom SU bait wrap,  and a sticker & coaster illustrated by Robert Kane. In addition to working the show, we were able to spend some time with like minded swimbaiters, check out some tackle shops, and explore the area.  To see photos from our trip search the hashtag #sujapantour2019 on Instagram.

Toxic Day:

To kick off the year, @Ceaser of Toxic Baits organized an event called Toxic Day hosted at the Russos Marina.  The event was simply to organize a meetup for like-minded people to get together, talk swimbaiting, and ultimately just have a good time.  SU members and other swimbait enthusiasts from around the country showed up to what turned out to be an unforgettable event.  Great food was served, plenty of giveaways, and no shortage of good company.  It was such a success that Toxic Day 2 followed only six months later.  Thank you for putting together these events for the community, Ceaser.  We hope to see you at the next one.

SU x DRT Cast & Win:

We partnered with DRT USA last April and organized a contest for our fellow swimbaiters.  Rules were simple.  Catch a fish, take a picture containing both a Swimbait Underground and DRT product, then post on social media with the hashtag #sudrt2019.  There was a two month entry window and the prize pack included a DRT Ghost in Spector, a white DRT Backpack, Swimbait Underground OD Green Hybrid Bait Wrap and Bassers Magazine signed by DRT creator Tomoya Shirakawa and largemouth bass world record holder Manabu Kurita.

2019 Battle for the Underground

Last year's Battle for the Underground was one for the books.  The qualifiers were the winners from each of the monthly SUB tournaments with a wildcard qualifying for entering a double digit but falling short on the victory.

November 2018 - @Dabbs
December 2018 - @SumoNinja
January 2019 - @njnf71
February 2019 - @NoSkunk
March 2019 - @Bass_Killer777
April 2019 - @Csweitzer
May 2019 - @Rangermike
June 2019 - @Aye Dat way
July 2019 - @Lurejerk
August 2019 - @mmasturgeon
September 2019 - @BeardedBaiter
October 2019 - @253caster

Wildcard - @ChaseEmToTheBank

With tons of big fish caught and numerous over the DD mark, our competitors were constantly fighting for their chance at the title.

The battle continued on to the final day when the winning fish was entered by @Csweitzer.  Somewhere in California, Chad had found them and originally locked in a DD with his Baitsmith Mag but decided to upsize his bait in hopes of getting a bigger bite.  Sure enough, his decision paid off and he managed to trick a twelve pounder into commiting to his Deps 250.  The giant largemouth was enough to take the win and earn himself a huge prize package and bragging rights for the next year, not to mention he got a new PB out of it.

Congratulations again Chad!

Be sure to participate in the 2020 SUB Tournaments to compete with members and earn yourself a spot in the 2020 Battle for the Underground.

Collaborations

Over the last few years, Swimbait Underground has been working with individuals and organizations alike to bring the swimbait community new products and offerings.  2019 was no exception as we partnered with more people than ever before.

Last year we coordinated with several bait makers & manufacturers putting our own spin on popular lures as well as assisting to develop new ones.  Bait collaborations include but are not limited to 86 Baits, Toxic Baits, Division Rebel Tackles, Rago Baits, UFO, Sly Guy Lures, Monka Lure Works, & Kurouto Lures.  Check out our blog posts for more information on the builders & collaborations.

Trophy Coat of Arms

We partnered with our friend Captain Cast and Blast to bring to you the Trophy Coat of Arms (TCOA) collection.

Inspired by Lake Baccarac, one of the worlds foremost public trophy fisheries.  Stocked in 1978 with pure Florida strain largemouth bass.  Lake Bacarac holds the Latin America record at 19.10 lbs, which is the 23rd biggest of all time.

Cast for cast, pound for pound, per hours spent on the water, it's hard to imagine a better bass fishery.  The T.C.O.A. symbol represents all those committed to chasing trophies worldwide.

With this release we not only released the T.C.O.A Signature Jacket, but also the T.C.O.A. Civilware clipper folding knife with features including:

154 cm blade (PVD) Physical Vapor Deposition Coated | Titanium frame-lock  | Titanium scale with Ti liner | Stainless hardware |            Ambidextrous thumb stand | Lock travel strop incorporated into pivot | Phosphor bronze washers | Low profile pocket clip

Manny Chee Outdoors

We are also pleased that we had the opportunity to collab with our friend Manny Chee in 2019.  Manny is a guide out of Arizona who specializes in the swimbait approach to trophy bass fishing.  We partnered with him to bring you all a couple different offerings.  We hope to do more collaborations with him in the future and recommend that you go check out his Instagram page & his website for more information and plenty of pictures of big bass landed on big baits.

Swimbait Underground Bait Shares

During the summer of 2019, @biggfeast donated one of his Bomber Wakes so that we could do yet another traveling bait share.  The Traveling Bomber Wake has gained a lot of interest from our members since it's journey began back in June and has traveled from coast to coast a number of times.  The Traveling Bomber Wake is one of the spinoff threads inspired by the Traveling Slammer.

Back in 2013 Swimbait Underground began the story of the Traveling Slammer by creating a thread where members could sign up to get the bait to fish their local water then pass it off to the next person in line.  The goal was to have the MS Slammer travel across the country, get as many fish as possible on it, and document the whole journey through the thread by sharing stories and photos.  Today, their are over 1000 replies to the thread and the bait is still catching fish.

Also inspired by the Traveling Slammer, the Traveling Baby Wake thread was started in 2017 and was donated by one of our members.  The rules are the same as the Traveling Slammer:  sign up, receive and fish the bait, document the process, then ship it to the next in line.

Also a BIG thank you to @Mossypumpkin, @El_Weruso, & all the other members who help keep these threads organized and the baits moving.

Personal Bests:

It’s not every day that one of our members is lucky enough to post in the PB section but last year there was no shortage of content in that section.  Swimbaits have helped many of our members catch a bass of a lifetime, here are a few from 2019.

Swimbait Underground would like to thank all of our members & the swimbait community for another amazing year.  We are excited to see what 2020 has in store for all of us and we cannot wait to show you all what's coming next.
