Finally have all 3 of my favorite crappie imitators... Sly, Lil Piggy, UFO. Time to go fish them!11 points

Here is my take on this. I could give 2 sh&ts what he did or other people do. I really never look up to people, don't get me wrong I know many great swimbaiters out there. To me this is not based on how many followers on social media. I think after a while you get to know these people. To be honest the only person I look up to is my wife. Not sure how she dose it, putting up with me, taking care of me, our daughter, the house hold stuff, and being the rock of this family. Bottom line is what was done was not cool, but iit really doesn't effect that many people. Not 100 percent on this but I am sure we all didn't send him money every time he caught a big fish. So fish and learn for yourself by yourself not by idolized people. On a side note....it would be 2 times harder for me to snag a fish then to actually catch one. If I throw out a snag hook I would get a gator or 100 pounds of weeds. Anyways best to everyone, Brian11 points

Exposing Mike Long
lmv_bassfishing and 5 others reacted to High Power Swimbaits for a topic
From first hand experience. Narcsistic people like Mike Long and a bunch of others that have gained any fame use it to threaten the people they have used directly and indirectly. They retaliate by using their influence over people and media to make you look like the party at fault. They try to make you look like your the crazy one with mental issues that is jealous of their fame and success. Their defenders come one after another to attack thinking they are defending their "buddy". If Kerr would have came out earlier I can guarantee it would have been far worse for him. Mike Long at that time had the world convinced and some really nice freinds and people I know that he was the nicest guy on earth. As a few told me ,"humble and only wanting to help people". As I have warned people here in the past and one of the reasons I don't post much here anymore. This is same of all the people involved in all the fish beefs supporting and defending their hero's and freinds. Plenty more fraudulant people out their pretending to be something that are not. And plenty of people still out there telling us what great people they are. And if somebody tells the truth on their "buddy" or hero they are willing to attack, ridicule, and shame that person to no end although they are just being used same as the accuser.6 points -

Decent chunk on a new Slamma

Nothing better than ripping into a package with a few brand new Slammers. X2 7 inch, my confidence bait. Immediately ran to a local pond that has a pretty tough swimbait bite. 5 minutes in and this guy hammered it. Like full blow up out of the water type strike, and gave me a few nice jumps on the way in.4 points -

@bassbass I 100% agree with your response. To be honest I didn’t even know who mike long really was until the article was posted! It might be different for the Cali guys who tourney fish and have been on the scene for awhile. I’m an east coast guy at heart and grew up with Bill Dance on TV! As long as the people on this forum who chuck big baits aren’t out there snagging beasts, we are all good! There is always someone out there trying to cut corners. No joke I may have snagged a few sun fish growing up...but not really frowned upon when your 7 or 8!!!2 points

Rats, testing/building a couple versions, and a fish (Pic Heavy)
VolunteerSwimbaits and one other reacted to chefchris for a topic
Got a few to epoxy tonight, did an albino one for myself. Tried to kept the wood grain showing thru and used my “web” spray paint method to add some extra texture, pics don’t really show it well. But it’s the same white technique used on this bait, which is done by modifying the spray nozzle and spraying in an odd pattern.2 points -

At first I was worried about it being telescopic too. But it’s very solid man in my opinion, I was surprised how flawlessly they pulled that off...Fishing with it, sensitivity and fighting 5-6 lb class bass, I certainly can’t tell it’s not a one piece rod. Even though I fish out of a bass boat it’s still worth it to me to be able to collapse it down in a much smaller package. I have another of theirs in the maverick that is telescopic and it’s sweet as well.1 point -

If you see the part of the video were he has the rod and reel combo laying inside the boat you can see exactly how we has the hook set up. Its a drop shot rig with a huge treble hook, and he probably put the grub just to disguise it a little bit from people. And at the beggining when he is fishing in front of a tree you can clearly see that he spots a fish and then tries to snag it. There is no defending him.1 point -

People who are innocent don't delete their IG. Looking back on it its kinda fishy that this swimbait veteran was using saltwater duolock clips on all of his baits. Ive fished alot of tournaments and I've never seen anyone bed fishing with a treble hook like was in the video.1 point -

Now I don't feel so bad about not catching fish every trip myself Still a sad thing to hear of any fisherman losing respect for these trophy fish just to gain a bit of attention. Fishing becomes less of a passion and more of a means to popularity. I was first inspired to pick up the big baits from reading a 2009 Bassmaster article featuring Long and his success with swimbaits. I'm still glad for that article, but this definitely puts new perspective on things. All these big guns catch huge fish all the time and act like it's nothing. Some are legit and put in tons of work and others maybe not so much. I just hope that when we all finally get that new pb the moment won't be spoiled by some internet battle of legitimacy. Respect the fish and catch them in an honest manner and the feeling of accomplishment should be reward enough1 point -

So got the 3 I did finished up today, and a quick photo shoot in the yard. Interesting to see how much wood varies in weight. All these baits were from from the same batch of Spanish cedar. You can see the lightest one weighs 2.37oz, this piece in particular was incredibly light weight and had a strip of very soft wood, you can see the thick burnt line, that’s the soft wood. the skirted one weighed in at 2.45oz and super dense one weighs 3.35oz, almost a full oz over the lightest one. they are all weighed the same, and rigged the same as far as hook/rings/tails. Then some glamour shots before I fish the hell out of this week, got a 4 day trip on Thursday1 point

We went out for a 4 hour night session and I let my brother in law use it. He ended up using it for all 4 hours. Countless fish and a lot of blowups. Lost a good one right on the bank. It was dark and all we heard was the mass of the fish's body throwing water around, then everything went silent. Still some good fish caught.1 point
