My Best 5 Swimbait Catches This Year
ErikTolley and 13 others reacted to willlliw for a topic
This time of year it is very tough for me to get out for bass. I live in NY and it gets cold pretty quick and I have alternatives to bass that I can target all winter in open water, so this is pretty much it for the year for warmwater fish. Im making a summary of my best 5 fish on swimbaits this year, in no particular order. 34 inch pike I caught out of a small lake where i've grown up hiking and stuff at. There is only one pike in this lake and given how much I fish this lake, I needed to catch it at some point. 34 inches isn't massive but it's my heaviest pike by weight and my first big catch of the season. Second I have my new PB bass of 6lb 7oz I caught at night at a lake in the adirondack mountains. This got me hooked on night fishing. Third is a bass around 5 pounds I caught from the Erie canal about 1 mile from my house. I fish here a ton since it's so close to me and I've never really caught any big bass out of it. Over the summer we had a ton of rain and the bass in the canal went nuts. I had 3 fish over 4 pounds this one day which were all bigger than anything I had caught previously from the erie canal. 4th is another bass similar size to the previous one, and the exact same conditions too, although this time it was mid october. I knew the bite would be on and it was! 5th and definitely my favorite catch this year is a massive tiger muskie I caught in October. I never measured it well but putting it against my rod I think it was 41-44 inches, and certainly over 40 which was my goal. I wasn't even going to fish this day cause I had an 18 mile run right before my friend picked me up to go. I told him I would need to catch a muskie to stay functioning for the day. I've never caught a fish that big before and I can't imagine what a 50+inch muskie looks like in person, hopefully i'll find out one day. Lastly id like to thank everyone that has shared information with me and answered my questions since I started swimbait fishing. These past two years I have caught more and larger fish than I ever had, I never expected to be this successful with them up here in NY.14 points -

Man I can’t say how awesome this was to see each and every one of you and your kids/nieces/nephews/sidekicks outdoors!! Lots of fishing, some hunting and a dirt biker!! I hope we can all agree that this bait seems to have gravitated own it’s own to @chefchris because while you all showed pics of carrying on traditions with your families, the dude showed some selfless love to someone else’s kid!! So the bait, a s-waver, a hat and some stickers I had are going to go to Chris to give the little dude for Christmas. I sincerely enjoyed seeing all of these and appreciate everyone contributing to the good vibes!10 points -

Cruised the shallows today looking for trout eaters. Stuck a bunch of dinks on the Suicide Glide and the Sneaky Pete. Biggest being six pounds. We decided to see if there were any dock monster at the marina, so we headed over. My friend on the boat was new to glide fishing. So I gave him a quick tutorial. Make a long cast, let it sink for a second and start your retrieve. Bamm! The fish swam at the boat, looking at both of us as it swam for deep water. Making the boat do a 180° turn. The fish took around five minutes to land and lived up to every big striper story ive ever heard. Man what a battle. She went 25.85 on the gen 1 Baitsanity Explorer.4 points -

Calcutta Conquest 200DC Question
DrewManFishing and 3 others reacted to Jim137a for a topic
My buddy bought and older model DC 200 back in the day - I don’t remember the year he purchased and he said the DC module failed. When he tried to get it repaired he was told that the DC module in the older models is a non serviceable unit so now he has an expensive jigging reel. So with that in mind act irresponsibly and get the latest and greatest. LOL I love my 2020 DC 201’s HG.4 points -

Well now that YOU’RE ALL HERE… I have a Choked Customs gill swimmer to give someone. BUT it’s a slight twist on the usual giving something to a kid! Instead, I was inspired by a dad and his young son as well as a dad and his 2 daughters that I saw out fishing yesterday, so time to show some love to the parents out there! Post a pic of you and the kid doing whatever you/they love to do, doesn’t have to be fishing! I’ll throw everyone in the drawing and pull a random from the list sometime Wednesday evening. I’ll start it off (again doesn’t have to be fishing), I’ve been taking my little chick fishing before she could even walk or talk!!4 points -

Cool gesture. I’ll play along, this is my lil homie. He’s my friends youngest son that rents from me. She’s a single mom and their dad is a deadbeat buts that’s a whole other rant. I try and take him any and everywhere I can and do cool “dad” “man” stuff with him. Kids like my shadow which is cool. (I don’t have or want kids) Took him fishing for his first time last year and got em on some bluegills and he even shared his worms with the kids and family next to us cause they didn’t have any. here’s some pics of him doing “cool dad stuff” as he calls it him and the pittie are like best friends and they’re constantly snuggling, that dog loves that kid hes excited for the new boat and if anyones wondering the front hatch fits a 6 year old child! if I win the bait will go under the Xmas tree for him3 points

WTS - 2 EA - 30 Piece Hudd Lots
GrizzleyShad and one other reacted to Warsaw for a topic
Gent's, selling almost all of my Swimbait collection because it simply doesn't get used. These are my Hudds, most are new or look like new., I didn't find any bent tails in the lots. Message me on here or on Facebook Messenger, my name is Jorge Fidalgo. I have been out of the selling game for a while but I have bought and sold thousands of dollars worth of gear and never shorted anyone. Just sold 10 packages last week that everyone got promptly. NO LOWBALLERS, NO Trades. Payment is by Paypal, F&F or buyer pays fees. Within the US I'll ship for $20, with insurance. Lot #1 Includes all of the ROF 0, 5, 12 & lone 16 you see in the pictures. It is a mix of 6", 68's, 8"s and some Bluegills - it is 30 baits total. Some are top hooks and some are weedless, you should be able to tell from the pictures. I would like to sell the lot as a whole that's why I am deeply discounting them from MSRP. $540 takes them all - keep in mind that MSRP on these is over $840 that is a whooping $300 discount. won't find that on tackle warehouse. Lot #2 Includes all of the Shads with the Flambeu tacklebox. 20 top hook shads and 10 weedless shads. Deep discount on these as well. Willing to let them go for $210. MSRP would be over $310 on these - that's a 30% discount, you won't get that from TW. You know how rare these can be don't hesitate to buy now, some super rare colors in there too. If you buy both lots I'll pay for shipping.2 points -

Calcutta Conquest 200DC Question
DrewManFishing and one other reacted to Bass_blaster for a topic
As far as DC conquests I have a 2005 250DC and a 2020 200DC-HG. The newer stuff has advancements such as micro module gears, MGL spool, more bearings probably, and s-compact body, and newer DC system. What that means at the end of the end of the day as a user is that it performs a little better (casts farther), feels a little more buttery smooth when compared to the 2005, and fits easier in the palm. I enjoy fishing both, and I plan on getting more older conquests. They’re bullet proof, easy to work on (DC or not), have great performance, and I like the nostalgia as well. They also cost a little less as you point out. In the end I think you’ll be happy regardless.2 points -

Found a decent NJ November Bass cranking the psycho gill down along a wind blown point with a steep drop off - there were some blue gills schooled up around the drop off. Got a lil fella as well - but I have to say they’re the cleanest, healthiest late fall bass I’ve seen in NJ for a while.1 point -
New baits
Dink whisperer reacted to El_Weruso for a topic
Aiden, i think he just means that for a first bait it's a bit ambitious to try and sell it when It has no history of fish, nor do you have a huge bait building background, or a known swimbait background. If the baits have great action, then fish them and continuously catch fish with them. As for a paintjob, don't worry about that. It's a wake bait, fish aren't smashing it because the bait looks good when all they see is a silhouette, they smash wake baits because of the action. Paintjobs on wakebaits are to help catch fishermen.1 point
