I’ve reduced some variety in my collection of stuff so I can focus on what I like to throw and what I’m most confident in. Other than soft baits like magnums or hawghunter minnows that has led me to gather a few more UFOs (always at least one tied on) and switch most of my glides over to 8” buccas due to their versatility. All I need is more time to go fishing now.13 points -

My son, now 12 has been grinding for almost a year now on big swimbaits with not even a single bite. Surprisingly he never lost interest. That changed tonight though! I purchased a couple bucca baits from @abarmstrong that arrived today. He immediately picked the bull Gill 6" to tie on. On his last cast to a dock as I packed everything up he finally got one! He's hooked for life now. He's rocking the Fury 795sb/Curado 200K with Gomexus 105mm carbon fiber handle and 17lb CXX. It's a terrible picture but it will have to do. Rain moved in and my phone wouldn't do the night mode thing.10 points -

Looking for pizz only. Would really love an S2 or FG, but open to most newer style Pizz (no creeps, drifts, or riots). Willing to do a great deal for one, and can gladly send whatever pics you'd like. Channeling my inner @Whammy on this one, so get ready for some bumps. All baits but the hinkle have been painted by TK. Ufos, hinkle, and one of the bgcs have been used, lanciotti could almost pass as new, and 2 of the bgcs haven't seen water9 points -

GetTight21 and one other reacted to SVT THUNDER for a topic
For Sale Only. These baits aren’t getting thrown and I could use the funds. Phoney Frog Heavyweight Gill Glide. Got it in a trade awhile back and it didn’t come with stock hooks and rings. Excellent condition. I’ve never thrown It and it doesn’t look like the previous owner did much if at all. $160 Green leaf Zig Zag glide in Skywalker color. Brand new. Includes extra tails. $95 I accept PayPal F&F only. Check my feedback or ask anyone if that concerns you. Thank you.2 points -

Chunky Colorado Channel Cat
flaswimbaiter and one other reacted to FishDr for a topic
Headed out last night with the Fish Cat 8 pontoon in search of bass. It was the first trip for the pontoon this year. I didn’t find any bass but I did get this 32” channel cat on the 9” Slammer - it hit about 6’ from the rod tip so things got a bit hectic and wet. I was very glad I had a big net. No scale, but only length-weight calculators suggest around 15 lbs. Definitely my biggest swimbait channel catfish.2 points -
Lena Shad
GetTight21 and one other reacted to cchapraps for a topic
I believe these are fairly hard to come by now, made by Lena Lures a few years back. This bait is new, is a slow sink, weighs about 6oz, and has 60# owner hyperwire split rings and decoy quad hooks. $140tyd or trade for/towards: Curado DC (or other 150-200 size Shimano reels), Battleshads, Deps 250, Varial 95 or 110. Thanks guys.2 points -

Slammer time
FishDr and one other reacted to Jonnybass64 for a topic
Hit a new pond with my buddy last night and tossed around a couple different slammers. Both got me a five pounder plus the couple fives my buddy had on his wade hoggs and some smaller decent fish we ended up with 24 pounds for our best five. First good night trip of the year. Took long enough2 points -

new moon for the win, fresh or salt, 2-4 days on either side, so like a slid 8 days i try and get out as much as possible during those days full moon, only if i can get out before the moon rises or its incredibly cloudy/rainy if the full moons out i stay home, been that way for the last 20-25 years for me, especially in the salt for stripers.2 points

Moon phases
KTO and one other reacted to Mossyback Angler for a topic
I do believe moon phases have a effect on fish and animal behavior. Does it affect whether a bass will chase a lure and increase the bite or or not during certain phases? I think to some extent it may. However I don’t let it determine when I go fishing, as like most of us, when the time is right, it’s time to go. As a side note, I am one who does subscribe to the barometric pressure phenomenon that cause fish to be more active. That’s from my own personal experience. I pay more attention to barometric pressure more than I do moon phases. Anything that may give me an advantage, even if it’s minuscule, I’m all for. However I don’t plan my outings on it, as there are so many variables in play.2 points -

Moonlight CO bass
EthanFoster1228 and one other reacted to FishDr for a topic
After working until 10 pm I figured it was time to get some bass fishing in. The moon, almost full, was bright and overhead and the wind had been howling all day (all spring, really). I didn’t care - I had a window to fish and I was fishing no matter what. I hit one of my favorite night spots right before midnight and at the 2nd access point had a solid and noisy strike on the 9” Slammer. That turned out to be this chunky 4.25 lb bass, my best so far this year. She was the only fish of the night but when I called it at 2:00 am, I was still smiling.2 points -

For sale, no trades. Ryoga 2020HL - $230 Shipped cosmetic - 7/10. Has typical wear and tear for an older reel. The brushed aluminum hides scratches well. mechanically 8/10. Installed ABEC5 Stainless spool bearings when I got it 2 winters ago. The spool has a small dinger on it that does not affect it at all (Bought it like that). It could use a cleaning to really bring it back to life.1 point -

I was in Cabelas the other day and they actually had Maxscent Flatworms in stock...three bags left. I snatched em up as soon as I seen em. Then I stood there with the hardest to find dropshot bait ever...thinking "man I dont need these fuckin things, I don't even want them" and put em back for someone else. A year ago dropshot and ned rigging was my jam. I actually enjoyed finesse fishing over anything else. That was how I started bass fishing in 2019. Now into throwing swimbaits there is nothing else I wanna do...admittedly though only after gaining confidence in the baits and breaking the PB while doing it. Need more confidence in hard baits still. A 6" trout profile on bottom is my ned rig now. Even got bit deadsticking a 6" Hudd lol, watched the line jump n everything.1 point
