(NJ) 13.5 lb Channel Catfish On A TK
flaswimbaiter and 3 others reacted to AnthonyCatlow for a topic
Well I finally caught my first teener just not the species I was hoping for lol. I was fishing a Tiny Klash lip out mode B over some submerged grass in about 5ft of water when this channel cat SMASHED the bait. By the size of the splash I knew it wasn’t a bass but I was completely surprised when I pulled this beast up boat side. Not going to lie I was more concerned about my line snapping and loosing my Tiny Klash then landing this fish but it was an exciting fight and satisfying to get it in the boat. IMG_8784.mov4 points -

Dobyns 806 867 or Leviathan omega H
GoodVibez_TightLines and one other reacted to AnthonyCatlow for a topic
I have an 867 myself and I will say the biggest drawback for me is the length. It throws the k9 and Doomrider beautifully but the length makes it awkward to use in a kayak and depending where your bank fishing you’ll need some open space. I’d say the Leviathan is your better option based on quality. If price point is a drawback for you I’m pretty sure Scales N Tales podcast has a discount code with Leviathan for 20% off2 points -

Dude! Personally I’d definitely recommend the leviathan. The heavy blank is incredibly light and perfect for the k9. Also, customer service at Leviathan is a++.2 points -

Caught this girl up shallow a few years back. Pond produces basically nothing but fingerlings for a while now, wasn’t expecting to get bit. Didn’t have a scale or tape. What do you guys think she weighed?1 point -
As part of my internship here in Sweden, one of the studies I have been working on is investigating the impact of reed harvest on ecological communities. In order to determine the abundance of Pike, the most accurate sampling technique is rod fishing. Meaning that I spent the entire week fishing for Pike as my job. While a week straight of 10 hour days of standardized fishing in the same location gets slightly tedious, especially when you know there aren't fish in certain locations, I don't think that work can get any better than this. I was able to land near 20 Pike this week with my largest 2 being 33" and 30" but the 16" Redfin Perch I caught was definitely the highlight for me! Extremely grateful to have opportunities like this in my field, science is awesome!1 point

OG Black Dog Baits Numbered Lunker Punkers
BigBaitsAllDay reacted to 185vsfrog for a topic
I’m selling two OG numbered Lunker Punkers. Both are circa 2008-2009. Both painted by Jeremy Anderson of Black Dog Baits and numbered. The Lunker Punker Jr is #11 and the full size Punker is #5. These were bought when Jeremy was painting out of his garage and hand delivering custom painted Punkers to the tackle shops. Both baits are new and both come in the original “LTD” labeled boxes. Selling as a lot for $470 f&f shipped. No trades. Thanks for looking1 point -

First swimbait fish since i joined the Marines. Haven’t had time to fish much and just started to get into it again with my girlfriend. Finally settled down in maryland, and finding some time to grind the local waters from shore. Had parents send me a couple go-to baits and a rod, and hit the water. Anyways enough backstory, got this guy on the slammer.1 point -

New swimbait pb! 5.50 on the clickbait mini sonar in seed. Didn’t get length and girth because it was bleeding a bit and wanted to get it back in the water quickly. I fished this area several times and had lost a big one earlier in the day. After approaching from several different angles and attempting several different retrieves, I finally got this one to eat. Happy Independence Day!1 point -
New pb largemouth!

Kinda a cool story on this fish, while reeling in a smaller fish I caught on a wacky rig, I saw this bass chasing down the small one I was reeling in. Continued fishing for another hour or two and came back with my new 86baits sentinel in the black bass color to the same spot. She t-boned it right where I spotted her earlier! 5.44 lbs and a new pb for me1 point -

Zander are awesome, by far my favorite species that I have interacted with here. While I haven't been lucky enough to catch once, we did get quite a few over 30" in our pound net survey, with this 37" being the largest. Easily a 15-20lb fish, unbelievable!1 point -
Immortal Trout
Jarellmayormaynot reacted to StriperAddict for a topic
Yeah I bought one without any info or a swim vid so I guess it was a pretty big risk jumping on a $400 bait blind but so far Im glad I did. That being said Ive only fished it a few hours this morning and didnt catch a fish but Im digging the action and feel its going to be a great bait for these river striper. I changed hooks and rings to 120lb splits and size 1- 2x hooks since Im hoping for 20++ lb fish the stock hooks are dinky for the size bait. The hook hangers are swiveling and placed very far foward and to the rear of the bait not 100% sure how the hookup ratio will be for a T-bone strike but time will tell. My water was 62-64 degrees and even with bigger hardware was still an XXS sink rate in my opinion. Obviously it looks great as all of his paint does. I have not fished a ton of multi joint baits but the action on this one is unique to me. I call it a glide swimmer. Like a fairly tight glide but very very fluid movement throughout the bait. It will shoot out pretty far on the pause at all speeds. I did a few burns and it didnt blowout but did get a bit of the roll to it which isnt bad for me. I was fishing it on a Dobyns champion 867 paired with a tatula 300 7.1:1. It wasnt bad to throw but was just lob casting not letting it rip like I will next time when I remember to put the 908 on the boat. But no spinning or helicopter as some say. So for my first impression Im happy and looking foward to some more time with the bait and big fish in the near future.1 point -

NJ Summer Bass On A Winter Gill.
ThatKidInNY reacted to Mossyback Angler for a topic
Finally on the water and putting some time in with the Wade Hoggs 2pc, Winter Gill color. Managed to tangle with three solid bass, but only landed this one. The other two “owned” me due to my slow, 5.8-1 gear ratio reel. Lost one boat side which really stung. Your time is always appreciated checking out my post. A random picture I took that reminds me how much I appreciate the outdoors and bass fishing.1 point -
Okuma guide select for huds?
5-20 reacted to Dink whisperer for a topic
Ok, so I now have a full day of testing in with the XH. I can honestly say that I'm VERY impressed by this rod, especially at this price point. I can confidently say that this is the perfect rod for both jig hook baits and bigger treble baits alike. I tried the rod all the way down to a 2.7oz line thru and all the way up to a 7.5oz line thru. It can definitely do the lighter stuff but you can tell it's most at home with baits above the 3oz mark. I would say that somewhere in the 8.5oz rage would be it's max just going by what I felt. It has a deep flex in the blank but it takes some effort to get it there if that makes sense. I would say it's somewhere in between fast and mod fast leaning slightly more towards fast. I did notice that it actually weighs about 3/4oz more than the XXH. I'm guessing maybe they added extra weight in the handle to get the balance better. I've attached pictures of the baits I used today for testing, the rod weight itself, the balance points with and without the reel, the reel weight by itself (Revo Beast 40 with 110 handle) and also pictures of how the rod flexes with different amounts of pressure applied to it. In conclusion, I think they outdid themselves on this rod! I like it just as much as my Blackjack and that's my favorite rod of all time. I ordered the Heavy model today with the 4th of July sale. I have high hopes for that one as my new rat/wake rod. The moderate action should do good with braid. Any questions feel free to ask. 1) Light pressure 2) Moderate pressure 3) Heavy pressure1 point
