Only other option I would consider is taking to one of those cell phone repair places. I had my kids iPad screen fixed at one for like $25 , a little spot on your screen may be an easy fix for someone like them?2 points -

March 2023. The was a cruiser fish that was hanging out under some floating docks. The fish would come out to look at baits, then go back under the docks. The water was silted up, because just around the corner some guys were working on a boat and revving the engines throwing silt all around. I'd see glimpses of the fish in the pockets of clear water, or right as i was lifting up the bait. Made the call to go to a big profile bait, and it worked out. I got a shout out from my friend Joe Rogan on his podcast with Cliff Gray (podcast #1955 about the 1:30:20 park)1 point

My New PB In NJ
Broke Boy reacted to AnthonyCatlow for a topic
Hey SU Happy Holidays, In October I caught my PB and now that our season is coming to a close (at least for me) I thought id share the story for anyone who cares to read. In August I started exploring a new body of water about 40 minutes from my house. I had a good feeling about this particular body of water after I caught a 5.2 on a gizzard wizard mid summer (a class of fish I have never been able to catch in the summer time relative to the waters I had been fishing). This catch gave me the confidence to make the drive more often and take the roughly 1.5 mile long hike to get to this spot. Besides the fish the water seemed promising structure wise with quick drop offs into "deep" water pretty much directly off of the bank, large chunk rock/boulders and what seemed to be a plethora of small baitfish roaming in the shallows. Fast forward to October I was there one morning before work fishing the shoreline exposed to the sun first. I was using a Doomrider I had painted by DS Customs painted in a bluegill pattern, fishing the bait with a very slow consistent retrieve with the occasional reel twitch every couple handle turns. Previously I was fishing this bait with # 2 ST-36 hooks but for whatever reason that morning before heading out I switched them out for the Mustad KVD Short Shank Triple Grip #1. This weighted the bait down just enough to get slightly deeper on the retrieve. I fished my usual 4 spots with no luck and on my way back I figured id stop and fish one last spot but only do a cast to my left and to my right paralleling the shoreline because I was running out of time. My cast to the left produced nothing so I made my "last cast" to the right up tight to the shoreline. Mid way through the retrieve BOOM the bait gets thumped so I swing and start grinding the fish in. Once I got the fish directly in front of me that's when I started to panic seeing that the fish's head and mouth was larger then any I have caught before. I got the fish on the scale and on the measuring board and she went 6.3 pounds by 22.25". She was safely released back into the water quickly after I had taken my photos. I know this isn't the largest fish compared to a lot of other members on here but regardless it was a fun and rewarding catch for me. Definitely one of those situations that make you feel like the time, effort and money spent was well worth it. Im not in a rush but I'm looking forward to meeting with my next PB whenever that time may come.1 point -

Maiden Voyage
SumoNinja reacted to brootalititties for a topic
These are the main issues I didn’t account for myself. I mostly fish lipless or slower moving wake baits from the yak now unless I can an anchor up and fan cast an area to crank some higher resistance baits around, thought I’d get into deep cranking but haven’t really figured out a good way to hold position in deeper water. Good luck out there!1 point -

Jonnybass64 reacted to bassturds for a topic
Slow sink soft baits, and slow sink glide baits. Better yet a rig a floating glide to suspend or a floating soft baits like a hudd. I fish shallow ponds with swimbaits in winter. I don’t fish deep with swimbaits1 point -
Largest centering pin spring for 6"+ Swimbaits
AnthonyCatlow reacted to chefchris for a topic
Toxic for sure but it’s too big for say a 6” citizen so it may not work on every 6-7” bait. another trick you can do is run a toothpick with some super glue thru the spring horizontally and cut off the excess on each side, helps act as a wedge/pin to stop it from blowing out1 point -

All bets are on when water is in that 48 degree range and up with a few warming trends mixed in. Water doesn't get any colder than that in Texas some winters. It's surprising how active, shallow and relatively fast fish will chase baits in those temps.1 point -
What are the best winter swimbaits
Tmanswimbaitr reacted to Tpreston for a topic
I mostly agree with this. I’m urban shore based so I feel like it’s even tougher in the winter. My most recent fish came from the klash, 250, and hudd gill. But they are few and far between. I just don’t enjoy fishing the small stuff much anymore even if I catch fish so I’m grinding the swimbaits all the way through1 point -

The bass will 100% plow a fast moving swimmer in the winter. Trout get chased all the time and they're moving quick with the bass not far behind.1 point -

Winter can be a bust for “swimbaiting” you’re gonna spend a lot of trips fishing for 1-2 fish. Soft baits fished low and slow or glide baits that suspend fished slow with long pauses. Tbh I usually fish a 2.8 keitech and drag around a creature bait to get through the winter. Mid February it’s on for the big baits. Just my own experience and opinion I’m sure some dudes got it dialed in for the winter but not me. Most of the fish in my experience are not willing to chase fast moving baits in the colder months and I just don’t have the patience or money to drag around a hudd for 8 hrs and lose 2 baits per trip with nothing to show for it. And tbh that’s just glorified jig fishing anyway.1 point -

Bro I was fishing tpc sawgrass at night on Friday. My tiny klash snaps off miscast after touching a bush. I immediately turn on my headlamp and look for the splash down. Boom! I see it plop down. Time to strip down baby lol I slowly wade in trying to be as quiet as possible(gators) in one arm I have headlamp and in the other an open palm to tread water I have my head above water similar to you here thank God the klash floats lol. I find the tag of of line and on the other end my tk. At this point I’m relieved but I still need to swim 20 feet back to the bank. I say fug it and started using both my hands (clenched fist , tk in one hand flash light In the other) every time I dunk my right hand the whole subsurface of the water is lit up with 1200 lumens about 10 feet from the bank I started having a mental panic and started thrashing for the bank. Anyone who fishes NE Florida knows these gators get huge. I drove home naked and afraid with a sense of accomplishment1 point -
