You did say they killed everything in those lakes. No worries, no need to explain. But maybe you can explain how they aided in poisoning them. And Im very interested in how they were involved in killing private lakes. Can you expand on that?

Can you explain to me how CDFW, CDWR, and the EPA killed everything in Clear Lake, Berryessa, Don Pedro, and Oroville? Im not a big fan of those agencies but Im not sure I understand what you are saying. The Delta is disgusting because we have too many people here and because of the agriculture industry, has nothing to do with predator removal.

Heres what all you armchair biologists dont get. Regardless of efforts to remove non-natives from California (largemouth, smallmouth, spots, stripers), they will never get rid of them. Growth is density dependant, the fewer fish the better the growth. So the only thing removal efforts will accomplish is to decrease the numbers and increase growth rates. For all you knucklehead self designated "trophy" fishermen, this means you will have more big fish to pursue. Before you spout your uneducated opionion, maybe you should take a step back and think about it. Yes, this has everything to do with conservation of protected native species such as salmon, steelhead, Delta smelt, and longfin smelt.

Palomar is not a good knot because its very easy to have the two lines in the loop cross over themselves. If that happens you chance them cutting into each other on the hookset. Take a magnifying glass and look at every Palomar you tie, bet most of them have the lines crossed. This is not a problem with braid, only mono and fluro.

Damn, Brock hit the nail on the head with a statement that Ive definitely seen with how I fish. With a wider glide I get alot more fish that rush in and dont really get the bait in their mouth well, which leads to foul hooked fish and many, many barely hooked fish that are lost at the boat. Once I slowed down and the left to right movement was less more fish ended up well hooked and in the boat. My theory is since there was less movement and the bait was moving slower that they have a much better shot at it and tend to get it better in there mouth. But really, who knows.

When I started really slowing down, which caused the 250 to have a much less side to side action, I started catching alot more fish. But thats just how I fish, I would think a wide side to side erratic swim has its time and place.

I threw the new 250 extensively for the past week. It sinks slower than the OG. It has a much more consistent swim than the OG, that is no matter the retrieve speed the bait swims; sometimes with the OG it wont glide if you are reeling very slow. Sure you could "start" it at the beginning of the retrieve but I donts have to do this with the new one. I like reeling slow so I like this attribute of the new bait. I also think the new 250 is just more consisent throughout. Its a solid bait and its a compliment to my OG. Heres the thing, out of the box the new and the OG do different things, so without modifying its reasonable to have both baits. I can go deeper with the OG, but when the fish want something just under the surface or they are in skinny water and you want a slow retrieve, thats when the new one will shine. Both have their place and both are great baits.

I fished at night and being tired layed my rods at the entrance to my tent. My head was right next to the entrance thus my rods. Some "Not Allowed" came during the day while I was sleeping and stole my rods right out from under my head, never woke up. Moral of the story, dont think it wont happen. I now place my rods in my locked truck while sleeping in a tent, if you slightly roll down one window and stick the tips through them, you can fit them in your cab; roll your window down just enough to allow the rod tips to go through but not the reels and you are good to go.

I dont think this type of travel for bass is a rare occurrence. I think bass have a homing instinct just like salmon, they know how to get back to where they want to be. Thing is science doesnt know what those mechanisms bass use to navigate, at least not near as well as science knows how salmon navigate. Pretty cool stuff, bass definitely know their underwater world just like we know our own cities.

The 956 hands down, but it will be a little much for 2-3 ounce baits but not by much. I also throw the 955 and the BBR extensively, and have been for 7 or 8 years. Neither of these will work well for an 8" Hudd. I will say I love both of them for other baits though.

Bullseye. And thats why I have no problem spending the money, Im most interested in protecting my eyes. The health of your eyes pay for the difference between cheap and expensive.

Nice fish. But I have to back BigWorm on this one. He never said those baits dont catch fish because they do. What he said is they dont consistently catch big fish but tons of 2 to 6 pound fish. So your video supports exactly what he said. Just saying.

Ringnecks! Hey, now I get the Ring King thing. Looks nice Don, Im getting ready to build my own bait workstation in the garage. This gave me some new ideas. And as best I can tell the Mexican subspecies of mallard which likely puts you on the western side of TX.

I have one, not a big fan of it, could just be the used bait I bought. Doesn't seem to swim as well at slow speeds as a hudd or baitsmith. Also, it's real easy to turn over when reeling it or adding hooks to it. I cant vouch for this baits effectiveness just yet, still working on it. But I can say every bait Ive got swims perfect at all speeds and all depths. Its heavy enough that regardless of how I rig it the internal weighting is strong enough that it overpowers any effects from rigging. In other words, it swims true no matter what. The world of big baits is weird, if you aint on the inside then you really dont know why certain things are happening. Its clear the market wants a 10" bait, and for reasons most of us dont know that niche has not been filled by the heavy hitters. Joes bait is the only bait I know of its in category, he took a chance with his bait and Im glad he did. Im not convinced his bait is dialed yet but I think hes close. Other bait makers can sit around and think its ok to remain static, but IMHO thats a mistake. Theres a market for a 10" soft trout, we will all have no problem paying for that bait, and once its dialed Joes bait will no doubt be effective and have long-term effectiveness.

I could be wrong but if whats happening to you is due to the same reasons it used to happen to me its because you are not getting a hook into the fish on the hookset. In my case it was because of my line and my rod.
