I've thrown expensive baits that way over 10 ounces with braid. It works better than mono in my opinion if you're not worried about visibility and floating line works for you.

Always makes me shake my head when I read about guys having problems with braid for relatively light swimbaits like a hudd. What do you think guys up here are using to throw muskie baits that weigh as much as the dead twitch and mothers?

Loomis 956. Lowest guide is lose. I wrapped it with braid a few years ago on a trip and it's held steady.
