  1. Utility Patents last 16 years. Unless the Wdgetail has tried to get an extension it should now be expired this year. The Votex Tail is still protected under a Utiltiy Patent.
  2. It would have to Go with soft bait in slow sink. DSS bottom hook silver minnow/ black back or RP pond shined same color.
  3. Joe Is The one who turned me onto bottom hooks for smallmouth years ago.
  4. Nolan, a few pointers for MN swimbait angling. Fish swimbaits in the fall until ice covers the water. 46 degrees seems to be the magic number for when the numbers of big fish bite. At 36 degrees is when the bite slows but big fish bites still happen, when you find 36 degrees, it is pretty safe to figure the lake bite is closing because ice is coming fast. Do not let air temp dictate your bite, water temp. is your only focus. If I only had time of the year to fish, I would fish the fall water temps 59 down to 36 degrees. As of fishing after the lakes are locked down with ice, you live in a state blessed with true winter swimbait fishing. Do your research and you can find plenty of open water fishing until closing of the season in February, look for hot water discharges. When the season closes for inland waters, I really only don't fish for one month or so and start fishing the river as soon as ice out in the sloughs on the Mississippi. Pool 2 south is open for fishing year round and offers great swimbait fishing. I see you don't have your not driving yet, I would spend some time doing research online to figure out the hot water discharges. As far as your game plan, you are catching fish on swimbaits so the big part of the curve is gone. What I read is you are very heavy into hard baits and throw weedless soft baits. To get big numbers and big fish, you must also get top jig hook and bottom hook soft baits. A proper sink rate with an exposed hook on a soft bait will get you thru 90 percent of weeds on MN lakes. You will find in MN as I would guess in most places, it is either a soft bait bite, or a hard bait bite, anything in-between is just searching and scratching something together. IMO soft baits produce big numbers and big fish in MN. This being said I always throw hard baits in combination of soft baits until I figure out what the bite dictates the day. Also note, if it a hard bait bite, IMO it is much easier to duplicate the pattern all over the lake. When targeting smallmouth, I only use bottom hook on my soft baits. Years of shore fishing have dictated this and will increase your hook up rates. Anglers will always argue this and but up pictures of top hook caught smallmouth, but I will tell you, smallmouth will do the traditional headshot, but many times eat the bait from the tail also. 90 percent to the time smallmouth t-bone the bait from the bottom and this is where the bottom hook shines. Also when small mouth are in a negative mood they will at times only bite the bottom hook, other times hit the bait with there mouth closed. When this is happening, you have to wait for "your" window to get these to bite and typically it is a small window. Just a few thoughts about swimbait in MN.
  5. I agree with Rubber Daddy, very simply I do not go on any kind of waiting list or pay for a bait "out of the next batch". The practice has simply gotten out of hand. Was on two pre payed waiting list that in total they had my money for over well over a year and a half. No updates, no nothing. I received the baits and being so disgusted with the waiting times ,I fished the baits then sold them soon after I received them. I have been on two waiting list I feel the makers have simply forgotten they assured me arrival time by spring, these baits were ordered in the fall of the year before, both of these were over two years ago. I simply will not beg anyone to take my money by messaging them asking them for an update. Now in 2017, there are way two many bait makers that make products I enjoy using, also it is not hard for me to find the baits I want second had or out of Japan. Now if I contact a bait maker that cannot get my baits by reasonable time, I simply quit doing business with them, their loss, not mine, I have plenty of baits to fish.
  6. Nolan, the Shudder tail just kicks back and forth kind of like a hard wedge tail. Thier are a few videos on YouTube. For me the Shudder Tail always shined when soft baits, glides and multiple joint hard baits are not producing. The Shudder Tail is do nothing bait, it is hard to get good directional changes out of. The bait being a do nothing hard bait, truly makes the anger concentrate on one thing when using it, speed of the lure. When you get the speed of the day, the bait shines and will produce when many other swimbaits will not. This can be said about any swimbait, but the Shudder tail really shines on certain bites. The 175 Shudder Tail produce more bites and big fish than the 250 Shudder Tail. Just a heads up for the young guys buying any baits I sell in the black market, I rarely ever sell baits that have not produced well for me, I typically give baits away that do not produce for me. On rare occasions I will sell baits I have not fished much because they never made it into my rotation, these are typically the hard to get well sought after baits that I know will produce well for others,
  7. I think you might have just modified a bait that has landed over 25 largemouth, 150 smallmouth and about 30 northern pike. lol
  8. Reel and burn the bait as fast as you can with rod down in the water to keep the bait deeper. Try a short pause and burn again, sometimes, just sometimes this will trigger. You will be surprised how fast you can burn a 250 to get them to commit after they have shown themselves, sometimes they just follow faster lol.
  9. Willing to trade a Fish Thirty Acre Deluxe Gill for either bait in slow sink. Would prefer a generation one Deluxe Gill but would consider a generation 2.

  12. I'm sure Palaniuk covered his bases in pre fishing and did not feel a swimbait bite would work out for him. These baits are the Battle Shad and the Dream Smasher Swimbaits King Gill under the article what the pros will not be fishing. This was article was done after pre fishing was done.
  13. Here ya go. https://musky-innovations.myshopify.com/collections/musky-chatter-baits/products/musky-chatter-bait-gold-brown-and-white
  14. Eric's rig has been updated by him: http://No-outside-links.com/ He has eliminated one or more of the crimps. The idea behind this rig is not to dropshot the rig it is more of a 3 way swivel rig or a bubba rig that is refined. I have not watched Eric's new video but has fished this rig for hour after hour with Eric. One of the main reasons Eric made this rig is because when you are casting a 3 way swivel rig (Wolf River Rig) all components become tangled on long cast and basically make the cast worthless. The Swimshot rig allows for tangles and the bait to work just fine. Another thing to consider is, this is not dropshoting it is more of a Carolina Rig for big baits. The Swimshot rig can be fished fast or slow or even to the point the bait is just soaking in the fish's face. Two important fractures are, does the floating bait you choose sit horizontal when sitting at rest and does the bait displace plenty of water. Many times the bite will acquire when the bait is sitting, then lift the tip of the rod about 3 feet and let the weight pull the bait to the bottom, this is when you want a bait the swims by the pull of the weight and thumps on the fall. Many other reasons I fish the Swimshot over a Wolf River Rig or a Bubba rig, but these are just a couple. Fishing this rig for a few years and using the crimps and fluorocarbon leaders, I still use crimps and not sold on using knots instead of crimps. I have never had crimps fail but have over the years seen many anglers knots fail. However, crimps are just like knots, if a crimp is done wrong it can fail just like a knot.
  15. I'm looking for a slow sink Thirty Acre, Generation 1 Deluxe Gill in Slow Sink. Have many baits willing to trade, sure I have something that would interest someone. Some examples Deps 250 Slide Swimmer, Deps 250 Silent Killer, Bull Shooter, Bull Shooter 160, Pizz Custom Beast ect. ect. ect.
  16. Look at single council boats. Sometimes the rod locker will take 8' rods but the passenger council interferes with being able to get swim bait rods into locker, on dual counsel I just bought a new to me boat. One of the requirements to me for the purchase was the rod lockers could hold 8' 6" rods. Got tiered of removing my rods the moment I returned home. Do your research, don't be brand specific and you will find a boat that fits what you are looking for. My buddies Triton 20 X fits his 8' rods just fine. I went with a Warrior 208 XRS, fits 8' 6" just fine and has more front deck storage than I ever seen. I'm looking for a Lakewood type storage system that will fit in the front storage.
  17. LOL great explanation. Tracking of anything of value is essential if you are sending anything of value, It is a trend with you as can be seen in the screen capture in my original post. Funny thing is, you stated to me directly that you have never had anything misplaced in the mail, but the attachment I added to my original post shows something different. And also you did state to my former partner your wife shipped the package and did not get tracking, now the story has changed to you tossed the tracking #. Stop while you are behind or you will really put on blast.
  18. ^^^ This guy likes giving quotes, then doubling the quote. Ask him to send your stuff back and says it is lost in the mail with no tracking. Very dissatisfied with dealings I started in the past. I'm not the only one he did it to. Seems pretty typical with him.
  19. Found what I was looking for, bait unavailable.
