  1. Hook line and sinker in Oakley or the one on the water at Russo's (Franks Tract CA Delta). Mark Mendez (anglers choice) has a shop right down the road from the hook too. Today i hit two outta three, the one on the water is only open weekends in the winter. They are all within 10 mins of my house. They got me surrounded!
  2. Went down to the tackle shop this morning to pick up a pack of beast hooks for my mighty minnows. I blanked on the hudd yesterday so my brain was working 100 mph. well I got the beast hooks... and two handfuls of 7" mission fish! D*mn it! i was gonna go spend 10 bucks. well its still kinda christmas right?
  3. Happy New Year SU. If your lucky enough not to be working tonight then have a couple for me! lol stay safe
  4. Sounds like you need a 8-10" spotted bass pattern swimbait to drag through there. Betcha the big stripers are chomping the little spots. Big stripers love little bass.. at least thats what ive heard
  5. Started really throwing them alot 3 yrs ago when Barrack stuck that 15 on an Osprey top hook on the delta. Opened my eyes up to the fish eaters out here. I used to call my frog the "delta swimbait" and to this day all my DD fish are on that thing! Switched from making "regular" wood baits to big wakebaits and swimmers and now I am a full blown wakebait addict. Wintertime bites on top look like mortars going off sick!
  6. Put an even amount of lead tape around the hook shanks on a hard bait. This wont mess with the action and keeps a low profile to maintain your hook gap. plus you dont have to stick the tape on your baits. I keep different weighted trebles w/ split rings attached for each bait so i can make quik adjustments on the water. hope this helps a bit.
  7. oh im bazooka juiced that there will be an actual bass bait and not just a paint job! lol A bass hudd will be sick... i just want that sucker in my hot little hands like yesterday
  8. I recently emailed Huddleston about this question. I asked about the new 6" colors from southern trout eaters and about a bass paint job on the 8". Heres what i got "Hi Ceaser, I’m glad to hear of your success with the weedless 6â€. Most of the guys view it as just another swimbait and before you know it they have trap/stinger hooks all over it. The joke around the shop regarding those guy’s is “the weedless 6†is a BIG BOY toyâ€. As you know, the weedless when used for its intended purpose, is deadly. As far as new colors, it will be awhile considering we are slammed. Regarding the 8†in bass color, I keep thinking that I will find the time to do an actual bass and not put the 8†trout through the humiliation of being painted like a bass (I have a soft spot in my heart for the 8â€). Anyway, thanks for the kind words and please keep in touch. Sincerely Ken " So theres the answer on the bass.. sounds like it'll be a while. Ceaser
  9. I throw the bluegill. I do good on it. I fish it with rips and pauses and catch em pretty good Quality isn't great but the swim is good and gives em something different to look at besides a paddle tail or wedge tail. Hard to say if I recommend it... If u have patience and don't mind doctoring and tweaking a bit then yes I do. I like to torture myself so I like em but if ur a sane person u might wanna pass. They do offer a swim not many other softbaits have.
  10. Great bait to fish weightless on top or with a weighted hook. When it's flat out and my hard wakebaits are too much this guy gets it done. Good for a Frog follow up bait as it slides Over the mat. Rig with a treble weightless for a killer spotted bass wakebait. Even caught em punchin with punch skirt. I would recommend grabbin a few boxes as I have yet to find a way this bait doesn't produce.
  11. its not that it snags less its weighting location is more forward and i like the way it hugs the bottom and bumps cover down there better than the hudd. And fish eating it from the top can suck the mission fish in better so i hook more fish. The hudd doesnt like to fold up in a fish mouth as well as the mission fish. I havent noticed if one snags or hangs up more than the other... braid pulls em out and if you bend a hook out the mission fish's is replacable.
  12. The 6" weedless is a great weedless swimmer for the middle of the water colum. If i need a weedless swimbait for the bottom a mission fish seems to work 100% better. The ROF 12 seems to be the all around performer but the 5 has its place in 1-3 feet. On the CA Delta we have success with it everywhere but this thing threads a needle coming thru the tules/reeds. A slowroll bumping tules the whole cast plain gets bit... with a vengence. I have heard some complaints about hook up ratios but from my experience the missed bites are usually smaller fish. Fish that are 4lbs+ dont miss. Alot of times the keel weight gets off center and the bait will roll on its side but you can move it back. Also if the top hook slot tears it will fill the cavity with water but mend it fixes it fine. Kinda of a pain at times but the bait produces so i dont mind. We fish it on straight braid or straight flouro, I dont really like the leader deal. Braid does the job most of the time, the fish are zero'd in on the hudd. I break alot of internal harnesses when i miss the water and hit a dock but i think i can chalk that to operator error lol. As for durability from catching fish its great cuz they swallow the whole dang thing. Overall i love the bait and have a box full. Its like all it catches is 5 pounders... they come out and smoke it! biggest yet is about 8lbs.. but the nubmers of 4-6 lbers we caught last year blew me away. Great bait, good price. The only thing that sucks is how the keel weight is easily displaced but its not enough to keep it out of my hand.. this thing is a heavy cover work horse. i hope this helps... kinda rambled i guess, woops Ceaser
  13. havent been there in about a 6 weeks but draggin top hook ospreys or similar was the deal for oct.-nov. Isolated offshore weeds.. and barely creep that thing on the bottom. Like 5 seconds for one full handle turn.(drag one on the carpet and watch the body shimmy!) Silly slow but Ill tell you what that bite was NASTY! Hope this might help a bit.
  14. Anyone that knocks 3:16 for their customer relations is a blind man. really cool to see all the support and excitement nationwide
  15. Cool Idea! California Delta.. my backyard is a dock I could take a break from "Lumber"jackin
  16. We're getting lessons in how to operate a business and proper sentence structure! Crap we should have to pay tuition! Go talk your nonsense on another site. If a bait maker said they hate everyone named ceaser but there stuff was tight.. i wouldnt complain on a thread.. id buy a bait, catch toad and put my "i love haters" hat on! hahahahahah I dont understand your personal attacks on someone you dont know personally. seems very spiteful
  17. forgot this was an english exam.. sorry. hater
  18. you know what... I dont own any 3:16 baits (yet) and dont known Mickey.. I make my own wooden hardbaits and fish those exclusively(why do the work and then trhow someone elses bait?). I have no reason to kiss a$$ but have you seen his baits? Best Non-wooden ( ) hardbaits available ever... by far. Maybe u should pucker up and get a couple! or just go back to hatin' @gullywasher... maybe you dont learn anything but I sure do.. clown
  19. Im getting paid to sit here too.. dont be a hater..if you spent more time on here you might learn something
  20. super glue will seal the wood but wont stop the coating from chipping more. Devcon applied in thin coats would b the best... but make sure you wipe down the spots with alchohol or a little acetone to get proper adhesion.
  21. I agree bigger is better too.. I throw a 5" topwater gill I make and same size billed swimmer but watching all these big fish eat little bluegill just has my brain working. They "bombed"(dropped pellets) my slough and the clarity and fish went to crap.. but now its clear and the fish are back and I have to admit.. when the wolfpack rolls through.. ive been getting the big fish to go on a 3.5" tube jig! stupid fish! I guess ima have to put different size gills on hooks, hang em off my dock and grab the snorkel and mask and see whats really going on. Thanks for the replies.. this is a cool site. Ceaser
  22. that new baby jackall bluegill is pretty weedless, it dont work tho
  23. LOL why does the water clarity thing seem off the wall? I live right by franks tract.
  24. I make wood swim/wakebaits for myself and some well known locals so I am constantly observing and wondering about fish behavior. The whole bluegill size thing is an enigma to me. I am luck enough to live on the CA delta off my dock I have 12-18ft visibility. Its like sea world with the bass and bluegill! lol But from all my hours posted outta site on the dock and the deck of the boat getting sunburnt watching how the bass corral and eat the 'gills it seems to me the bass after reaching 5 lbs.. still key on the 3-4" gills. Ive seen my resident "mamma" 10+ eat on numerous occasions and they are always 3-4"ers. I got some hours in just staring and havent seen em eat or even give a second look to the gills that are the size of most swimmers. Anyone have experience with this or am i just way off and they eat the handsized gills everywhere else but here. Even the gills in the well from stickin a big one in for pics later are usually in this small size range. I know body shape has alot to do with it cuz the same bass chomp 8" baby bass without hesitation. Thanks
