  1. I had issues with that standard lips impeding hooksets and catching the front hook that was a major reason we went with the bent lip. Its definitely still a great bait but I try to make the baits as user freindly and universal as possible now.
  2. The original was design to be fished erratic and blow out. Thats why I switched it up, great bait but hard sell.
  3. I’m not sure why the technique of “swimbaiting” becoming popular makes people distraught these days. It’s been moving that direction since the beginning. The growth and tourney wins has caused the industry to create amazing products that support the genre, especially the rods reels and an enormous amount of different baits. Because of this it is easy and affordable to throw big baits, so as a fisherman why not try it. The growth leads to more good things than bad IMO.
  4. I’ve never fished when it’s “too windy for a wake”… send it!
  5. White labels feels stiffer than most and allow for ease of use with swim baits in the 1-5oz category. I actually feel like they top out at 4oz but thats me. They seem like they won’t bend under load like the softer rods offered by other company’s. This is FAR from the truth. The MH fishes treble baits in the rating range very effectively and the fish stay stuck like Velcro. The action can throw some people off, even did me at first and I’ve used LDC since day one, but Ben had these tapers made custom and they are the freaking juice. I’ve used them time and time again and if you can get one they are very very hard to beat. LDC was the first swim rod builder to offer a “production” line up for big bait guys and that experience definitely shows thru in the white label line up. Thin blanks, dynamic actions and plain fishability.
  6. Gonna drop those and some mini truchas for the salt ASAP. Pouring bodies this week. The wake n cranks have caught some really nice calicos and yellowtail on the troll.
  7. As someone who tinkers with baits, I had a perception of what DRT was and their true value. Slowly, fishing with others, I have gotten to fish and see each bait and the “modes”. IMO I see stuff in these baits I don’t see anywhere else. I don’t really think anyone can look at how a bait swims and know if it will “catch” or not. Especially when chasing trophies. Certain lip tail combos, turning the lips backwards for alternative actions, and the fact they come in a “lo float” are all super positives to me and offer new looks to fish that haven’t seen these actions before. I love the weird subtle actions you can get. And they are definitely proven to catch very large fish here and over seas, there is a constant flow of great fish on my social feeds on DRT stuff as well as close friends that absolutely crush on them. And imagine having a popular company with a crazy demand and then just saying “naw I don’t like money”. Not sure why people think that companies try and create a false shortage... especially DRT. It’s like the craziest comment I see on the webs lol. Pricing seems right to me also, customs is rough on companies on both ends. When I send to Japan the prices are super inflated, even with me selling wholesale, cost of shipping a large package and customs fees and taxes incurred by retailer drives prices up. Works both ways.
  8. do you fish the 250 fast and aggressive?
  9. Bikini baits. It’s a solid ABS musky bait. I used to catch fish on it years ago, I’m sure there’s one or two pics somewhere in the got em section, burn pause burn. Owner is a great guy, they catch fish but all I ever did was smoke it in hyper speed.
  10. I use nates and dark battles shads for big seedless Gill imitations
  11. Handling trophy size bass “properly” is subjective. Also, after losing or missing countless big fish, I understand doing whatever you got to do to get the fish landed. In the heat of the moment after landing a big one I’m always laughing full of adrenaline and well kinda goofy. I think most People are concerned with taking care of the big fish they just caught but man, hindsight is 20/20. Easy to judge from the outside looking in but when your the one handling the fish and trying to keep it together some things can go sideways. I know I usually mess something up but do the best I can. But first and foremost I’m getting that fish in the boat however I have to. I’d rather get yelled at for boat flipping than carry the depression of losing a big fish for 2 weeks cuz I didn’t want to feed her some carpet.
  12. Wow just heard. He was such a down to earth humble type dude. Met him at toxicday and spent a bit of time but ish smh. He always wrote me personally always telling to enjoy my time and go fish. If you can, go fish. He had a good outlook. Heartbreaker
  13. Event was DOPE. Glad I got the invite, thanks to UFO for hosting and helping me out coming from out of town. Would have def been cool to get a pic with us all Aggs, next time.
  14. I have the same question about thin paddle handles...
  15. I say both are bad ass so just have one of each LOL
  16. I use stainless tubing. It has decent weight and usually balances a short handled rod. It’s not tapered so i use an orient at the top of the insert as a spacer and then used some epoxy goop all over the insert and let it set, i also added a set screw for extra security. I just wrapped it with electrical tape or duct tape after that LOL it’s hilly billy but I’ve done it to a few rods and all have been killer.
  17. Defiant a great rod. I still use my 8’6s extensively
  18. “PLEASE MOVE YA BOAT!!” Hell yeah that dude is legit. Nice f”&$king fish Gus!
