  1. For trade only: 6" FS Trout Floater in Ice color Like New condition. Thrown once. Looking to trade for floater or SS FS shad in blue, green or lavender back only.
  2. 2 days and counting! Can't wait. Found somebody with a back seat open on the Delta. I'm pumped to get out there and see a California bass.
  3. I don't know that area well, not even the delta LOL!, You will be a little over 2 hours North/west of where I live. u moved? Were you asking me or Don? I assume Don, but I was jabbering about moving so... I'm not moving to Cal, just visiting.
  4. Thanks for the info Ceasar. Sent you a pm also.
  5. I just got to give props to Huddleston. Ordered a couple 68's on the last release. Box shows up with my baits, and I was shocked to see they also sent me a weedless shad and a weedless 6" trout ROF12 to try at no charge. Very unexpected and much appreciated!
  6. Yeah, the Delta looks huge! I hear about it being a phenomenal bass fishery, but all I've found online is info about sturgeon, striped bass and salmon fishing. Nothing wrong with those, but what's a Kansas boy to know about salmon or sturgeon!
  7. Been a crazy year for me what with buying and selling a house, moving, all that jazz. Fishing has kind of taken the back burner. Finally getting a break and wife and I are flying to California at the end of the month to see our new nephew. Also hoping to get a little fishing in. SIL/BIL live in Suisun City, but I know nothing about the area except it's close to the Delta. Hoping to find some smaller waters nearby I could get to and get a bait wet. Anybody local know the area, give any suggestions?
  8. Thanks guys. Not real big but it's a start.
  9. Nice fish Speed, and congrats on the little one!
  10. Went fishing Saturday evening on a public pond behind my buddy's house. First time there, but I think it gets a lot of pressure being in town. Entire shoreline is ringed with water willows. It was difficult to get them to come out of the willows for a bait. There was one nice laydown. I cast out past it with the 7" MS Slammer in bass, did a slow twitch/deadstick over it, nothing. Cast out again and waked it over, and this chunk demolished it. Not huge, but not bad for this little pond. I'm thinking a night mission is upcoming, and try to catch them out of the willows feeding. Stay tuned.
  11. You guys are right on. It's all about confidence, and catching that one fish will keep me chunking it. Fish are kind of in the post-spawn funk, but I'm hoping they'll turn on this weekend. The HPH is tied on fresh line and ready!
  12. Thanks guys, and thanks again for the baits, Randall. I knew as soon as I got one wet that it was gonna be the real deal. Can't wait to stick a pig.
  13. Went out this weekend prefishing for a tournament. The bite was tough. Threw the 7" Slammer in the morning, but only one half-hearted swipe at it. Later, found a little pocket full of shad, so I tied on the High Power Herring. My partner was in awe. He says, "It's like watching boobs. I just can't stop staring at the way it moves." I had to agree. So I had no hits in that pocket, so I put it down so my partner could get back to fishing. We went to another pocket full of shad, and I hooked a nice one on a jig, but lost it. Picked up the HPH and threw it down the bank, twitched it a couple times and paused it like a jerkbait. Line pulls tight and she's on! Only about a 2.5 pounder though, and I didn't get a pic. But I have a feeling this won't be the last fish on it, and hopefully not the biggest one.
  14. Nice looking bait. Congrats! Love how Randall did the tail on that bass. Different contour than the shad HPH. Looks perfect.
  15. What a cool release! All the variety and the matte colors are just sick. That said, I didn't get one. Since the wife left town with the laptop, I was laying in bed browsing the old interweb with the Nook and seen them come up. I tried to add to cart on that little screen, but my fingers was fumbling. So I jumped out of bed and ran over to the old dinosaur PC. Got it cranked up and then the battery died in the wireless mouse. Cursor is sitting in the middle of the screen and couldn't move or click. You know that feeling when you're picking out a big backlash and your bait's sitting out there deadstick on top of the water. And then a big girl slams it and there's nothing you can do with ten yards of line coiled up at your feet. Yeah, that's what it felt like. Fail. Congrats to those who got lucky.
  16. I really feel for you, darth baiter. It sucks when someone takes advantage of your generosity. And I've seen you extend that generosity more than one on here in the short time I've been a SU reject. I've been ripped off once before too on a bait trade, and it's infuriating. I did some digging on BBC and found his username is duckyaz over there. He hasn't been active for nearly a month though. Google turned up an article on his military service and fishing for the ASU team. http://www.statepress.com/2011/10/26/from-camo-to-casting-off/ Don't know if the url will post here, but here's a quote from the article. Google Doug Coplan, Jr and it'll come up. Kind of ironic. "I don’t deal with stupid stuff. I don’t put up with it anymore. I’ll give the shirt off my back for anyone but if they take advantage of it with no appreciation, forget that.†The article is also helpful enough to list his sponsors. Denali rods, Tackle Warehouse, Columbia. I'm sure they would appreciate a call to let them know about their prostaffers "integrity." I do hope he will see these posts, man up and settle things with you, Darth.
  17. I'd second that, and Dsouth definitely knows his Slammers. In my case, I fished 7" Slammers a lot when I first started throwing big baits (it was my first swimbait) and still do, but I am hooked on the 9" Slammer now - I get more fish and it seems to attract more attention than the 7" version. Great advice! I was given that same advice by bassinjordan, who sold me my first swimbaits. Guess it's settled, gotta get a 9". Not that color matters too much, but I'm thinking perch or bluegill for the next one. Funny story from this weekend. My buddy saw that 7" Slammer on my boat, and says "that thing is huge!" I said, "Dude, that's the small size."
  18. Sure it wasn't the southernswimbait website you looked at? I will send you the link in a pm, its at southerntrouteaters dot com, then click on products and go down to the hooks section. It's only recommendations from the brands they use in the dvd, but it's a great beginners tool. SLAMMA TIME! You may be right. Thanks for the link! Looks like 1/0 ST-36's are the way to go. Appreciate the info guys. Tournament this Saturday on a smallie/largie lake. Will have my High Power Herring and new Slammer doing work, hopefully!
  19. Thanks guys. I looked on the STE website also, but I only saw the 9" and 12". I'll put some 1/0 Stingers on it and try to go stick something.
  20. Finally got a MS Slammer in baby bass color. Starting out with a 7" I know most guys replace the stock hooks, but I can't find any posts that say the best size. I was thinking 1/0 ST-36's but I don't want to go too big and kill the action. Seems the stock hooks have a fairly long shank, and would tangle. I can easily hook the two hooks together. They seem sharp, but not real stout. I don't want to lose a fish once I finally get a swimbait bite this year. Sucking it up bad so far, but I'll keep chucking.
  21. Unfreakingreal, Don! Wow! I don't know what else to say. Congrats x 1000
  22. Did you know they are reverse threads? Righty loosey, not righty-tighty. I would just call Shimano parts if you can't find used. They're reasonable on parts and shipping ($3) and fast to ship. 1-877-577-0600
