  1. Wow! I really thought that boot tail was going to be a bust, but it works, and has an interesting action. Now go get a vid of you nailing a fish on it! Can't wait.
  2. Gloves?! Really?! Gloves are for doctors, nothing like the burn under the finger nails from scrapping a few jalepenos. Looks scrumptous, I now have another treat for tomorrows game.
  3. Jeez, another beauty! That's some serious food porn. Shinner, try that same recipe with bison short ribs, and red wine...one of my favs. By the way, I consult, so I don't have to get my hands dirty anymore...and leaves plenty of time for fishing, and kids.

    Beer

Anyone brewing their own? I dabble, use to be really into it, now maybe one or two beers a year, and a mead for the holidays.
  5. Take it from someone who knows(opened four, part of opening 13 others), don't! Nothing will suck the joy you get out of cooking more than having to do it for a living.
  6. two more listed today...if your interested.
  7. @Paynefish, try "woody" instead of "barky" when referencing asparagus, but you are correct, thinner asparagus is more tender and delicate in flavor then the thicker stuff. Having "my ribs" for Sunday, started them tonight...smoke 'em late Saturday, or early Sunday morning. I think it's funny how you guys all take pictures of the food you make, not bustin' on it, I think it's just funny, but you should be proud, it all looks good. Cudos to shinner, there's a man who likes to eat well!

    Beer

Was waiting for this thread...I thought the only place east of the Mississippi for Fat Tire was NC? If it's CO beer though, better off with an Avery's or Oskar Blues(G'Knight or Ten Fidy, but Speed, you should watch yourself). Like Dark Beer, aged in burbon barrels? Victory's Dark Intrigue...yummy! I love beer! and my favorite everyday drinker is Dogfish 60min., right now I'm having a Russian River Salvation...next to Avery,& Dogfish head probably the best brewers around.
  9. FishCat 4 for $120!!!! Good Deal!
  10. Chef/Consultant, work from home mostly, so I run "Daddy Daycare" for my two kids most days.
  11. Now that is a great idea! We need more ratbait options. I tell you what if he drops a freestyle rat and i dont get one..do you guys remember indecent proposal?.. Im gunna have to talk the wife into taking one for the team Ok ok thats all kinds of wrong..but i want one..lol Hmmmmm...Marbles, a lot of these guys are from California, the "indecent proposal" might not pertain to your wife...but something more on the "bearded manly side" if ya get my drift???? LOL!!!
  12. Thought the same thing when my Ebay 3:16 new post search notification went off yesterday, and this is what came up!
  13. Another option would be a pontoon, I fish out of one a lot, have a trolling motor on it(MK PD 36#), very stable, carries lots o'gear, higher when seated than a yak, can stand, just as light(minus gear) as a yak. But like some people said, there are some yaks that are killer fishing machines, Hobie Pro Angler, Native WaterCraft Pro Mariner Propel(can go backwards), or Kiwi Catayak(very stable, cross between a 'toon and a yak), or you could get any of the models mentioned previously, and add a Bassyaks system to it, but they can be pricey. Good Luck, and it's always better off the bank!
  14. +1, would hope more anglers, when faced with that decision, would do the same. It's the personal satisfaction that counts.
  15. Wow, Great review! Thanks. Seeing the bait next to other frogs puts it in perspective, it's huge! Quick question, think there is another hook to use other than the EWG? I fish some heavy pads, was wondering if it sat flatter, w/o. the "keel" of the hook coming out of the bottom, that it might drag better across the pads?
  16. Hmmmm, let me see...PFBC has 12 dam/lake projects going...5 are too far west, two are close to me, Speedwell is out...Opossum? or Pinchot? LOL.
  17. Speedwell Forge? Negative. Give it a few years for growing and trout stocking and I'll take ya. Oh shucks! I thought the PFBC found the $4 million they needed to fix the damn!
  18. Great points. To me a 5 pound smallie is a heck of a fish, and 7 plus is a monster. I'm with you, 8 lb. 8 oz. is our record here in PA('97), so a 7 lb. fish is a fish of a lifetime...but what about Erie, I've seen it is off the hook with monster Smallies?
  19. ive got hudds!! He's talking bigger Hudds, 6"-8", which are the size most of the guys around here are fishing. Not that the Shad is a bad bait.
  20. I, for one, still like the original plan, and hope it doesn't get changed much because I have already put in considerable time working on the wifey! But, feel that I can attend either event, or both, especially one less than hours drive away.
  21. I'm up for the SML trip, but I think a lot of guys in the N.E. think far western VA is too far to drive for a weekend trip...so they're looking for an alternative, that fits the bill.
  22. Since it's 5 pages deep and this thread has already been 'jacked, how about big tubes? Do they fall into "swimbait" category, and does anyone use 'em, has anyone seen the "FishnFool Boob tube" rig?
