    Who is Toxic Baits

Nice work! I have to ask - where is the beat from, or who was on the wheels?
  2. oh and... if you are unsure if a fish has your lure (due to an explosion or you are night fishing), just slowly pick up the line with a few SLOW reel cranks. you will quickly find if there is a fish on. Good luck!
  3. I did very well on the XL, but have never used their 3 piece. I would say - stay away from a straight retrieve. You will get many more bites if you do. Though you can't really fish it wrong. Set the hook on weight - not sound or sight. Not all fish come up to eat. Some come up to stun or disable the bait. They will come back to finish off the lure. When this happens - try to twitch the bait or act like a fleeing prey (without actually fleeing away). Hope this helps!
  4. SBU-KIDS! Great catching and great memories!
  5. Here is my solution: - Dobyns DC 705 SF (http://dobynsrods.com/rod/705sf/) - 1pc. 12-20lb, 3/8-1 1/4oz, Heavy Fast Action - Shimano 1000 series reel (with braid) - PRIMARY TECHNIQUES: Carolina Rigs / Frogs / Jigs - SECONDARY TECHNIQUES: Buzzbaits / Spinnerbaits / Walking Top Water Baits I tested this out last night really quickly. It's a much shorter rod that I am use to, but it handles a 1.50oz bait with ease. I think with the right lob cast it will handle 2.00oz baits. I am basing this comparison off of my 736C frog Rod.
  6. They all will get bit, and each bait will truly excel if you learn them. However, depending your style of fishing and where you fish may be the only difference on what you will need to choose. Wake only, wake and crank down... and so on. Start with a 4 or 5 inch rat. I have noticed once you break the 6inch barrier, your catch count drops. Only when you are comfortable with the 4-5inch bait should you jump to the bigger ones. Everything you learn from the smaller baits will help you excel with the bigger/heavier ones. Personally I stay away from injected baits because I hit a lot of things and I throw really close to the shoreline. I have hit many docks / rock piles and an injected bait would not stand up to my abuse. Good luck!
  7. I use USPS frequently. What is delivery to zip code?
  8. Due to my schedule I fish primarily at night (or when ever I can get on the water). The faster I find the bait fish (bluegill and other panfish) the faster we start catching. From my understanding, just like human eyes - fish eyes need to adjust. After complete sunset/darkness - the fish eyes need to adjust to zero and this takes approx 1hr. After that 1hr the bite usually pickups again. There is always a lull period after 12AM for me. Only during fall season, or cold nights was there a consistent bite throughout the night. All my daytime spots and lures work just as well at night. The only catch is they arent hiding under the docks as much and they are always roaming around feeding. The little fish only appear to be present under the docks. Hope this helps.
  9. EH!? Canadian here! Unfortunately since it is a trade you aren't really covered by anything. This is the main reason why I only ship out after I have received product. I have been on fishing/swimbait boards for over 15 years now (if my memory serves me correct). I have sold plenty of items, but have only completed 1-5 trades. Trades can go wrong in so many ways and this is one of them. From my perspective, I think your only hope is to keep informing people. I don't think you will find many people live in his area (which is often the case). Hopefully by informing people and boards, he will get kicked off and no one else will get screwed. I wish I had a solution or better insight on this. Good luck!

    Wakebait Blowup

    Perfect camera angle! Great shot.
  11. I have been very creative with my vehicles. If your ceiling is high enough and you arent too tall - you can run 2 car clothes rack bars (1 in the front and 1 in the back). I did this for a while and it works like a charm in a van/suv. In my compact, I take advantage of the fact no one usually rides with me. I have hatch type trunk, so I know exactly what you are talking about. What I do is use the head rest of both the front and back seat - and I raise them up. I only carry 1 - 2 rods and slip them through the openning. I push the back seat one back down to hold the rods in place. They dont move too much and they pretty much stay put during my commute. FYI I do this with a 7'3, 8'0 and 8'6 rods without issue and I have a Scion xB (1st gen). Hope this helps.
  12. There is lead wire or wire you can wrap around the shaft of your hooks. I havent done this myself, but I have seen others do this.
  13. What do you mean by overpowering? The 250 is the only deps glide I will throw. We have caught pounders on these baits.
  14. WOWW this is spot on! I will use the term 'business lunch' moving forward.
  15. aka the one you throw the most. I think I am in your neck of the woods. Here are the lures I am confident in throwing all day long (and in no particular order): 22nd triple trout DEPS 250 Hinkle Shad R2S s-waver WSB rat The only reason why 1 out performs the other, is i throw it more on a given day.
  16. I agree with this, as this is my schedule as well. In most cases it is worth being a zombie - but I learned that I cannot do this multiple times a week. Plus I like the fact that I have the whole body of water to myself.
  17. You mean to say you can fish during the day? I have a soon to be 3yr old and have really only taken him out twice fishing during the day. I get my best fishing in at night. I am lucky I also have a pond minutes from the house. As he is getting older, I appears I will be able to fish more during the day.
  18. What are you doing on a missed fish? The biggest thing I have learned is they will strike more than once. Their 1st strike is not necessarily to eat and often it is to stun or disable a bait. This holds very true with topwater. I fish very very clear waters and can see upto 30ft down. I no longer pause or deadstick on a missed fish. When I pause - they pause too. I now I pick up the pace, act like the prey I am and try to flea the scene. I do this all the way to the boat. I will continue to get hits along the way and often hookup. Unless I am certain there is more than 1 fish or a wolf pack - I never make the same cast twice. If I do it is 30mins to 1hr later. If I feel they hit the bait to disable it, I let the bait land. I pause and pretend I am stunned and then twitch it home. I put in short but quick pauses along the way. Again I often hook up with this method. Hopefully this gives you some other insight or perspective on what you can possibly do.
  19. Hi Wayne I have seen both on Japan owned baits. I happen to like the concept of both too.
  20. HERE HERE! I do the same thing too. You only have 1 set of eyes - take care of them. They are not replaceable!
  21. Thats awesome! I've been in search for something like that around this neck of the woods.
