  1. Thanks for the tip! Are these the ones that are mostly equipped with trolling motors?
  2. If the top coat is thin, or there isnt much of an epoxy finish / none for that matter: - nail polish remover aka acetone Please wear gloves and a mask. Dont soak the bait, do it as if you were removed nail polish - dab and move. I remove paint on all sorts of stuff non fishing related. Hope this helps.
  3. Hi Waynem I just saw this. I was already using 8ft rods, but the action was poor. I got bet action rods and also got 8'6ft and 9ft rods. All in all, it was a combination of everything that helped me: better action rod slightly longer handles more effiecient round reel (i find the lowpro reels slow down the lures out of the box) Hope this helps!
  4. Try and leave more line out on the bigger baits. It will allow your rod to load more. Hope this helps.
  5. Love how it leans on its side on both sides!
  6. This is one of very few baits out there where you cannot fish it wrong. The only thing you can do wrong is throw it in the wrong places or not throw it at all. Keep it wet and you will get bit. I fish it a couple different ways: slow retrieve (with many pauses and no exact cadence) moderate straight retrieve (no pauses) moderate fast straight retrieve (no pauses) twitch + pause walk + pause I always get hit on movement after a pause. As for walking - I walk it (a few steps), but not for long. However, everyone's definition of walk is different. * I dont kill the bait after a miss. I twitch or walk. They do come back! Good luck
  7. WANTED: Triple Trout - 5 inch/float (22nd Century)
  8. I saw you mentioned Dobyns. They also sell Dobyns in Australia - would it be easier to purchase/ship from there?
  9. Out of curiosity why didnt you catch one and what lures/gear did you use?
  10. Here is another pic. My understanding there many fish caught already, some being meter fish. A meter fish is a trophy in cod standards, most weighing in excess of 50lbs. I can't imagine what the fight would be like - it's something I would want to experience. URL: - https://instagram.com/p/BFK4oC6P3ez/
  11. ... wait until your favorite bait becomes your very own bait. That's when you know you have truly dialed everything in.
  12. Awesome giveaway! Good luck everyone.
  13. Will do! Thanks for the recommendation. I am already highly intrigued about this fish. I wish they were closer.
  14. I got rid of all my 401D reels for the Conquest and havent looked back. I wish these reels were available to me sooner. I am now really curious about the Conquest 301 reels.
  15. I am a die hard Shimano reel guy. Go for it! It is well worth the money and then some. Here is my review: - http://swimbaitunderground.com/forums/index.php?/topic/28056-shimano-reels-calcutta-conquest-low-pro-round-reel-vs-curado-dsv-calcutta-d/
  16. BEAST! I am green with envy. Wish it was me, but it's not. URL: - https://www.instagram.com/p/BFBu5YXv3UM/?taken-by=woodenswimbaits
  17. Why not go the other way around? The 9 seems to be the workhorse for everyone. So just make the soft plastic tail longer?
  18. I saw/met with a practice that specializes in sports. So I too would recommend seeing such a practice. The one that I saw caters to the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and Whitesox. Unfortunately for my diagnosis - surgery wasn't a guaranteed fix. However, if you give them all the proper information - that can lead you to quick and effect results. I am pretty much pain free and can fish for days. However, when I do feel discomfort - I slow down or stop. Those were also the Doctor's orders too. Good luck
  19. Overhand throwing is not a natural movement. I use to pitch ... And then I got hurt. I stopped, but I pitched so much before it came back in other ways. If you are looking to gain distance on your casts, switch over to a round reel. It's leaps and bounds beyond the Curado. I started with a Curado, and I feel if I switched to a round reel earlier - I would have had less aliments. I now sleep in a cast that puts my arm in a proper resting position. I recommend you telling your PT about your sleeping patterns and positions. Keep them updated with your progress or lack there of. They will provide you with alternative solutions. If it really hurts - listen to your body and stop. I know now I am not as invincible as I once thought I was. Another option is to learn throwing with your other arm. Your last resort is surgery - and you don't want to go down that road.
  20. 1 - like anything, if it hurts you should stop what you are doing or possibly take a rest. especially since you have pre-existing issues. 2 - what rod, reel and baits are you using? having the right rod/reel (tools) helps with the bigger and heavier baits i have/had arm, elbow and wrist problems. dont do what i did and take advil to numb the pain, just so i could keep on fishing. in the end, i got into a better rod/reel setup. this alleviated alot of the work i did, and the rod did all the work for me. the last thing you want to do is to have surgery. after all surgery is not a guaranteed fix. hopefully this helps
  21. Something I have been toying with for quite some time now. My buddies have been doing very well on it - so now I have decided to add down flare to it. What are your thoughts? Feedback is welcome. Thanks in advance
  22. URL: - http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Texas_Tackle/catpage-TEX.html Big swimbaits: Standard swimbaits: I lost my favorite Rapala go to pliers and I tried replacing them many times without success. I quickly found out they were discontinued and I tried replaced them with the companies 'new and improved' model. The new ones lasted 1 day. I have spent hundreds more on other pliers and even JDM pliers. They too ended up broken or misaligned. I had more than a couple of recommendations about these specific pliers and have been using them almost 2 years now. I have used them at least a thousand times now and I abuse them. I use them for more than just split rings, as I actually use them as pliers too. For the abuse I have put them through, I have yet to see a flaw in design or alignment. If you invest in these pliers, you will never use another set again. These are highly recommended in my book. They are 5/5 stars right across the board. * Please don't waste your money like I did on other split ring pliers. Just get these ones. *
