A few baits from my last batch
-
I’ve been making baits for a pretty short time now but I’m pretty happy with my progress. Here are some of the baits in order of the first bait I ever made to the most recent and everything in between. Let’s hear some constructive criticism! the videos just for fun. I made it a slow sinker but after clear coat it’s perfectly neutral. It won’t come to the surface but it doesn’t sink to or touch the bottom of the bucket either... kinda cool IMG_4151.MOV

First let me say the only way I can think to word this right now isnt producing in the search bar. So I have a question that needs some opinions. How are your hook ups with bluegill imitating top hook soft baits (no trebs)? I know largies often go headfirst on gills. And this time of the year most places i go im throwing a soft top hook bluegill with no stingers of any kind. Ive never had an issue hooking up with a bluegill swimbait. Ive watched bass many times chase my bluegills and attack from behind. Especially in spring. I believe I remember watching an episode of tactical bassin where Matt spoke of bass eating head on but i cant remember exactly what was in his lesson about the topic that day. Ive also heard and seen them attack from the side. And I do get hook ups that way. Whats your guys opinions?

After getting my 7” slammer from SU member cubneck a couple of days ago, I knew I had to give it a try. The local bass are still sort of in summer pattern since the weather is weird. It got up to 92 on the lake today. But morning clouds made it bearable as I launched and hit some of my better spots. Saw a couple of other boats with guys either throwing spinnerbaits or Carolina Rigs. As usual, I was the only sicko throwing big baits. But the slammer proved its worth. No trophies, but 4 solid 3-4.5 lbs fish tried to yank it from my line. Definitely going to see a lot more action this fall as the bigger ladies move shallow.

Looking to trade these two baits for some sort of bluegill profile bait or shad profile bait. Pm me if you are interested. Will sell also. River2sea s-waver 168 in the old bluegill color. I had a phone conversation with tw when I got this bait because I wanted the bluegill color they have now and they basically told me, sorry our photo guy hasn't updated the online picture. This one is a little too perch like for me. Never thrown, everything 10/10 Megabass magslowl 9", casted 1 time. 10/10 everything.

I'm not sure whether or not this should go in the reviews section but I may get more feedback putting it here. This may be a post that can help out smaller companies, guys hand making baits, or even get someone to buy a new bait and catch a new pb, so let's see what we've got. As a general question, in your personal opinion, which bluegill bait on the market do you think is the best? Soft bait, hard bait, any number of joints. As long as it has a bluegill profile, which one would YOU consider the best?? Let's hear everyone's answers because who knows, someone may find a new bait they want to invest it!

I have 2 John Hopkins Bluegill swimbaits for sale. I purchased them a few months back on eBay, but I've never thrown them. Not even to check their swimming style. So they are literally NEW. They have been sitting in my swimbait box next to my Mattlures, Gantarels and BS. Asking $35/ea TYD *NOT INCLUDING +4% PP fees* Buyer is responsible for PP fees. Will add/send pics to anyone if they are interested.

Winter is coming to the Darkest Continent so I've been making a few baits: I'm trying to get my wife into the Swimbait Addiction so made a smaller Twerk for her. We'll be throwing the His and Her Combo tomorrow Sent this new Shad Twerk pattern went to the States a few weeks ago. It's a pity we don't get shad here. The smallies have been hammering my slammer/pats style bait. I was fishing it 'naked' but put a trout wrap on it yesterday. Bit of a rush job but it came out ok. Very disappointing to get the news that the super hot exclusive venue we had permission to fish on Saturday has been closed down by the farmer - he caught some ?*&%er poaching in his trout pens during the week. Been trying for years to get access...so frustrating. Lastly a copy of the Heddon Mouse for a friend who brought my new Dobyns back from the states with him. He lost his and can't find another one. Happy to report he's already got plenty of teeth marks on it.
