  1. IDk what it is, but the slammer IS the bait. I've had a lot more success on my slammer than my wake Jr and other more expensive wake baits. At this point, its just a fact, the slammer produces and the price point is good too.
  2. love my bullshooter, really liked my bull gill while I had it, and a hardgill is a must of youre fishing bluegill waters
  3. get a higher gear ratio or a softer rod, thats how you can deal with it.
  4. What rod are you using, when it comes to swimbaits rods r everything when it comes to keeping fish pinned. It could be how you're fighting them but beyond that its; probably to stiff or too soft.
  5. problem solved, thanks SU
  6. Lookin for trout patterned ROF 12 hudds with jig hook. I need em in two weeks at TW is out. Must be trout and Rof 12. Thanks
  7. I don't have a lot of experience with LA fishing, but I think you'd have better luck at clear lake than LA. That place goes off all the time, just gotta grind and hope for the best.
  8. loved my bullsjooter, great bait and not too expensive. still has the quality though.
  9. Just keep throwing them, slow it down fish them as similar to your soft baits. But at the end of the day, if soft baits are getting bit then that's what Iu have to be throwing. You never want to force feed the fish, that's a recipe for disaster.
  10. I was thinking about purchasing one, Anybody used the heavy and have some feedback?
  11. Straight up for those baits man, get a fury 795. if ur not gunna be throwin 8 inch hudds every day a 795 is a great starter rod. I own a few swimmer rods now, and my 795 still gets a lot of attention.
  12. Honestly man, IK people talk about sticking with the basics, and that's excellent advice. But after I bought my first 250, I gained so much confidence KNOWING I was throwing a bait that all the sticks were using. And I think, for the most part, it was the right call. I've caught numerous bass on it, one of them being my first DD and PB. If there ever was one bait that I thought was truly worth the price, a 250 would be it.
  13. From where I'm from, California, it seems that natural usually beats out unatural. That being said, it seems that you have to classify the type of fishing you are doing, baits like the waddhogg or hard thumping bait(meant to illicit a true reaction strike) are better when they are bold. With baits like glides it seems to depend on how you are working them on color choice, hard fast stuff the bright colors could be effective but if you are methodically fishing it then you might what to lean towards a more natural bait. Finally, soft baits are usually best when natural.
  14. if u throw softbaits alot then def the slower one, but if the majority of your fishing is done with a glide bait and some jointed hard bait s you should lean towards the faster gear ratio. Both options can handle all offerings.
  15. To me in most cases, especially in warm water, you have got to be fishing that triple trout fast and erratic to pull big bites. When you fish it slow you are going to get a lot of curious fish that have no intention of eating so you could use that retrieve to locate fish. Now if your goal is to locate fish, I think you should fish a glide instead but that's a personal preference. So for me a triple trout serves as a true reaction bait meant to pull reaction bites. To get back to the point, If you fish it erratic you will get fewer followers but you will pull bites instead. And if you get a follower under these circumstances then they will be a lot easier to tempt into biting usually. So to finish off, stick with a hard retrieve and see if it pays off for you. I know that for me it has but bodys of water can be different so stay open minded.
  16. The one that doesn't slip, honestly people can tell you why to use what knot but if you look at the elite fisherman they all use different knots. Find one you can tie quick, in the dark, and is simple. That knot will be the knot you have the most sucess with.

    Love me a delta bass.
  18. Swimbait fishing is one technique that you cant skimp on gear, quality gear will save you when you need it most. Buying used rods is not bad at all, in fact ide recommend you go that route, just make sure you buy high quality gear when you do it. The last thing you need is an equipment failure on a fish of a life time.
  19. here's my preference for 250's. I take off the stock hooks and I replace them with st36's. I like the st36 because it tucks up under the bait when swimming and I think a lighter wire hook hooks fish better personally. For me i've lander alot more big fish on a thinner hook than a super thick one. For line, i've thrown them on everything but i prefer a high quality 25 pound fluorocarbon. A lot less stretch than mono, and casts really well.
  20. Yeah, to be fair I think this bait is probably more of a spot bait. Ik that when I caught my PB she had the bait T boned in her mouth. I guess its more of a trade off.
  21. Now I know we don't particularly like ABT, but he just released a new glide bait with a sick video of him using it too. The bait's hook placement is interesting as he has hook directly on the nose and tail, and honestly made me consider if this is a glide bait i should pick up. Anyways, check out the video. Id love to hear opinions about the bait.
  22. This one day when I was younger I was beating the bank. with my new swimbait setup. I lost both of my hudds(the only real swimbaits I owned at the time), then proceeded to break the gears in my reel making it inoperable and finally while walking back the reel seat on my rod broke. As a result in one day my entire swimbait game went away.
  23. Is this directly through powell, or another retailer like TW?
