  1. I've thrown 6 inch hudds and 68 specials as well as s-waver 168s in Milwaukee and have caught/called up several browns, salmon and steelhead
  2. Take a look at the head and mouth, it looks like a brown to me. I had an old timer ID it for me when I caught it because I wasn't 100% sure what it was and he said it was a female brown. I can tell for sure that it was not a steelhead, but maybe a salmon?
  3. It was a female brown. Got a bunch of roe for drifting egg sacs from her
  4. Hit it like a missile about 10 yards from shore. Fought like a 7+ bass
  5. Right from shore in the marina. That was the first fish I've ever caught out of there.
  6. Here are a couple of pics of my first brown trout ever. Caught it on a S-Waver 168 lite trout. 5.15 pounds. Anyone else fishing for great lakes trout/salmon?
  7. Thanks. Do you use the Eric Aske method for dealing with the toothy critters?
  8. Branden, what type of line do you use with the magnum cranking rods?
  9. Thanks guys. I forgot to mention that I plan on using braid connected to a 50-60 lb fluoro leader via an FG knot. I figured having the softer rod would allow the bait to have a better action while still using braid as a main line. I have been using a St. Croix Mojo Bass swimbait rod and got far better action out of the s-waver when I switched from braid to mono. I just don't like the mono as much for connecting to the heavy fluoro leader as the braid via the FG knot.
  10. Does anyone have experience using this or other glass/graphite composite cranking rods with S-Waver 168s or similar weight class glide baits? I'd be getting the 7'11" MH rod rated for 1/2-3 oz.
