  1. Anyone use this? picked up 150yds of 80 lb for $10... I like regular power pro on my surf gear, I'm no a huge fan of the "super-8" but figured this was a good deal. If it turns out to be junk for casting I'll use it for tying my jointed/segmented flies...
  2. I had a thread a few weeks ago... looks like there are a bunch of guys that home build them! http://swimbaitunderground.com/forums/index.php?/topic/34759-snakes/
  3. I've seen it in the fall as well. Only luck I've ever had with cruising fish like that is dropping a wacky worm in front of them... But I know how the guys here feel about wacky worms..
  4. First fish on my new slammer 9". Tragically lost my other one, got this one in the mail and went out in the rain today. Had several blow ups but this one was the only one that stuck.
  5. Most salmonids need very oxygen rich water, with the exception of rainbows and some strains of brown/ Brook trout, most need moving/very well oxygenated waters, and they don't fare well out of water very long. It's why you see a lot of fly guys do the entire Catch Photo Release without ever taking the fish out of the water. Keep 'Em wet, keep 'Em alive. But I hope you have a smoker, those were probably some good filets!
  6. I have a 7' bps gold cup 3/8-2oz, with a penn spinfisher 4500... usually use it for throwing spooks to stripers, but since I moved more inland it continues to throw the spooks and poppers, as well as the 6" hudd sometimes. There are a lot of inshore rods around in that range but as others mentioned, you don't want to go too heavy with a spinning rod, especially with braid; heavy baits will kill your finger.
  7. Just curious what you were using for a rod/reel/line set up with that shark?
  8. I've had luck with the same type of structures I look for during the day, weed lines, drop offs, docks and lily pads.
  9. Had one smack a S-waver 168 at a reservoir in MA last week. Didn't get the hooks but the silver flash gave it away.
  10. I'd say someone had a great idea about 4-5 years ago... I bet that was a canal schoolie!
  11. I didn't measure length, he weighed in at 6 lbs on my boga grip.
  12. I wish we had pike like you guys in the Midwest. You guys can grow some pigs out there. There's a guy on another forum (fly fishing) that was catching saltwater pike in the Netherlands on giant flies- now that's something I could get into. Surprisingly, my hudd is in pretty good shape. As soon as realized there were pike around I switched to the spro bbz.
  13. I've been hunting for one for almost 7 years, and finally found this Northern pike that weighed in at 6 lbs, just as I was about to give up he nailed the weedless Hudd this morning.
  14. Last night I lost my 9" slammer to the biggest largemouth bass I have seen in person. I sat in my kayak in disbelief, waiting for the fish to shake it loose. But he only slashed the surface once, never to be seen again. I need another 9" slammer. Any retailers that my fellow mass bass holes know of that carry slammers? Also. How long would a fish be able to survive with a 9" slammer attached to his head. I went back out this morning in search of a floating slammer, but I think it may be still attached.
  15. Survival of the fittest? Darwinism? Maybe he was just really depressed? Ready to end it all?
  16. The answer was no for me this morning. Went 0/6 for fish in the boat.
  17. While I was out tonight I was thinking... What are the chances that a bass doesn't necessarily see a "bass" paint job as another bass, but just another perch/gill/shiner/shad/trout that can fit in its mouth? I've never really been one to think that color was completely make or break... Especially at night.
  18. Most baits coming in at over $50, a lot over $100, $25-$30 for a soft plastic that gets destroyed after 4-5 fish... Anyone else think this way? What gives.
  19. I had a beaver chase me in my kayak the other day. Thing came up 10 feet away and SPLOOSH. I must've gotten close to his house. A friend of mine has caught and released several owls. His PB was a great horned owl on a 2x slammer.
