I managed to try out the rods at Outdoor Pro this weekend. Strangely I thought the Daiwa DX 2-8oz seemed faster than the 3-10oz which i thought strange. The Daiwa Kage is nicer finished and bend seems similar to the 3-10oz. So I'm more impressed by the 3-10oz from what I managed try at a shop. The DX feels like a Dobyns Fury quality. .

Congrats buddy! I've been struggling. Glad to see you catching them!

I love my Dobyns Champ 806 for the 2-5oz baits. When i need bigger is when i need a 867 or equivalent.

For budget SB rods the following names keep coming up - thought i'll include for any folks looking. No particular order. Dobyns Fury, Okuma Guide Select, Daiwa Kage, Daiwa DX , Spiralite Rods, Irod Genesis II

Thanks for the replies folks! Sounds like if i want a 6-7oz rod and don't want to go Dobyns 867, the Daiwa or even Spiralites are good alternatives for less $. I briefly tried the Spiralite and wasn't a fan. Stiffer and heavier tip that i'm used to ie. all Dobyns (Fury/Champ/Extremes) - which is know for their balance. If there was a 867 Fury I would have just picked that up.

Is the Extra Heavy 3-10oz equivalent to Dobyns 867 and will it throw 250? i didn't want to spend the money on 867 since i rarely throw that heavy baits but for the 'Fury' price range, this could be my ticket! I love my Dobyns Champ 806SB which i throw majority of my baits on. Thanks folks!

That's my preferred config for TK. Nice!

They look similar thus confusing but 4x4 is a crank down - good for wood. Wake is a wake. There are videos on his site.

Congrats! I'm still struggling here but good to see others having success!

Went out this weekend. The rain did NOT help. It was tough. Just managed ONE 3lber. How did folks do?

I tried using nail polish over baits. Waste of time and it f up one of my bait's paint due to the chemical reaction. So this sounds like good idea. As long it doesn't affect the sink or swim much - which i cannot see why it would if only a small piece.
