  1. Nice one man. Congrats. Makes me wish we had more in SoCal.
  2. It kinda depends on your fishing style or what kind of baits you will be fishing. A good all around ratio that will cover most if not all of your basis though would be a 6:1. so in your situation i would go with a 5:8:1 because you can still fish almost all baits and still be able to pick up slack in the line and stay on top of the bait and the fish. I have the 5:8:1 and i love it. Caught multiple fish with it and have never struggled to keep up with the fish when it runs towards me. Hope this was helpful. Good Luck!
  3. I have had the same issues with my 175. You need to kinda just play around with it and try a bunch of different things until it starts to do what you want. AZ_Fishier is right though. If you add weight its best to add it to the same spot as the manufactured weights to make sure it doesn't throw off anything else. Good Luck.
  4. Try to make it a smooth cast with the rod loading up when you cast. If the rod doesn't load up at least a little bit then the bait will tend to helicopter more often and you also risk snapping off the bait from shocking the line.
  5. Here is a video of Manny Chee talking about the battles shad in particular but the same concepts can be applied to almost all soft baits.
  6. Line is one of those things that is mainly preference and you'll decide what works best for you through experimentation. For me personally, I prefer to use #20 izorline cxx for my hard baits (glides, multi piece, etc.) and seaguar abrazX or invisX for my soft baits. But lately I have been trying flouro for my hard baits as well and i haven't had any issues and been having success.
  7. I've had my success come from kind of skipping it along the bottom but I have caught a couple hopping them over boulders and stuff so it should work.
  8. Welcome to the community Gavin! Underneath the title of each topic/forum there is a description that will give you the idea and principle behind that topic and what you can expect to see under there. When you reply to a topic or comment, it will be reviewed by the site before it is posted. This is only for a couple of times though. You can't private message anyone until you have reached the required number of responses or comments. After that you are all set. If you need anymore help i'm sure someone else or myself would be willing to help you.

yes you have to go through a course like you would to get your driver's license.
  10. I usually go to my cl8 rat, floating bullshooter, or my tiny klash.
  11. Just start with something that you wouldn't mind throwing that is in your price range. Doesn't have to be expensive to catch fish.
  12. I'm still in denial, but everyone I know says that i have a real issue. the said if i buy three more baits they might have to stage an intervention.
  13. That male is a brute man! Congrats on the new fishing buddy.
  14. I went wading in lake Murray and got an infection in my foot because i got my s-waver snagged on a tree root in the water.

Are you sure you didn't inflate a basket ball in her belly?
  16. Nice man! But is that peanut butter on the bait?
  17. I messaged you on instagram because i don't know how to pm.
  18. I had to grind it out for almost two years before I finally managed to land a five pounder this late January. Its only a matter of time before that one fish opens Pandora's box for you.
