  1. This is a great point. The mind can be a blessing and a curse. It brings us creativity and at times the right "off the wall" idea that works. Other times it keeps us from changing things up and put us in a rut. Hitting the reset button may be just what you need. Second guessing ones self is natural.
  2. Color really doesn't matter. Mine is golden shiner. Love it. I think I'm going to develop an addiction to these.
  3. Down sizing may work. Timing and location are crucial. But some small fish will eat a big bait too. This past weekend i caught 3 LM on a 9" slammer. 14", 15, and 17". Bait over half their length. A 7 or 8lber is going to be around 23" or so. Are you fishing it the same way every time? Change things up. try something outside the box.
  4. Exactly the info I was looking for. You see all the videos of butch brown catching dd's. Curious if he catches a few 2 3 and 4lbers in there too.
  5. I rarely find any schooled up. It's always one here. One over there.
  6. Im a first year big swimbaiter. I have yet to catch a big fish with a big swimbait. First one actually came this past weekend. 3 small LM on a 9" ms slammer. I would suggest doing all you can to get a hold of a 9" single jointed slammer. These things are so lethal. Extremely versatile, and if you get a little chop on the water (like we do basically everytime going out up here in NE), the bait really comes alive just dead sticking. The wake it will give along with the knock it makes is a dinner bell for big fish. Its just a matter of time with that thing. I just made a thread regarding whether to move on after catching a small fish or keep fishing that area. Looking forward to replies in there. I will keep my eye on this thread as well. So that would be my recommendations. Ms slammer fished really early and late, or at night. Outside weedlines and over submerged cover. Good luck
  7. Hey guys. I caught my first big swimbait fish this weekend. Ended up with 3 LM total. All came on the 9" slammer. All three were small. Smallest being around 14" largest was about 17". Who says small fish do not eat big baits (or at least try). Perfect example. Im in Maine too. Anyway, my question is....If you catch a small fish like i did, do you immediately relocate? For the most part, i hear people say big fish are loaners, so you wont really find them with smaller fish. All three of these were in 8 to 12 feet of water.
  8. This is my first year investing into the big swimbait world. My first two bait casters were $70 abu garcia black max and $100 lews combos. This past winter i took the plunge and invested into swimbait tackle and gear. Keep in mind, i was (and am) always on a budget. I was able to pick up both my rod and reel on sale. I went with a Okuma guide select XH rod with a daiwa tatula 200HD reel. So far i love this reel. Very smooth and very quiet. I fish 20LB PLine CX copolymer line. My current bait inventory consist of 8" hudds (2 ROF12 and 1ROF5), a Real Prey 7" shiner (2.5 OZ), a 9" slammer, and a 6.5" gantarel (2.5OZ). The biggerst / heaviest i have thrown on it is a 9.5" Baitsanity Trout Explorer which is 5oz. Only reason i got rid of the glide was to trade for the MS Slammer. IMO my setup threw this great. I dont feel concerned one bit about throwing big baits with this reel. I get great casting distance as well. Maybe someone else can correct me, but i feel that throwing big baits is more about having the right rod than the right reel for the most part. I will say that there are many people that have talked good about the Lexa 300. For me, i was on a budget and was about 99% sure i was going to go with the Shimano Cardiff. Then a deal popped up on ebay for the Tatula 200HD and i couldnt resist ($90 brand new shipped). The lexa is in a whole different price category.
  9. Yep. Better to pm. By the time you reply someone else could have pmed them and you lose out
  10. I just rigged one of these up on one of their 1.5 oz long shank heads. How are you fishing it? On bottom? Straight retrieve?

Traded baits with chris last week. Have also talked back and forth with him about fishing. Great guy. Would deal with him again.
  12. Bought a gantarel from Aaron. Transaction went great. Would buy from him again.
  13. How does the action of the spro compare to those others? Esp wooden rats?
  14. I have the bbz 40 size in morning dawn (purple with yellow tail). Sounds like it shouldn't worm but smallies love it. I can't wait to try the 50 size. Can't go wrong for the money
  15. Just to update...right now im in the works of trading with a member for a slammer. Ill update as it moves forward. @northeast_trev trust me i have thought this out over and over where i really like the bait. For me, right now a slammer is a better bait for my fishing. I do however plan to buy another when fall comes closer.
  16. Looking to sell my Baitsanity TE9. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Swims awesome. Some light scratching on it (see pics) from use. This was my first big bait purchase, selling to fund another bait. $70Tyd.
