The Valkyrie VKC-711XH-4 is a great rod for treble hook baits. I regularly throw Baitsanity Gill glide, TK, K9, and Wade Hoggs on it with no problem. It is too parabolic for Beast hooks tho. If you're wanting something that can work for treble or Beast hook baits, the Leviathan Daily is a good option.

The Calcutta Conquest 200 DC is probably the most recommended reel on this forum. I don't own one, but every owner has praise for them. My personal experience and favorites are Daiwa Z2020 and 18 Zillion HD 1520. The Zillion is a tank (handles 4oz no problem) and is compact and light. The Z2020 is larger and quite a bit heavier.

I've never fished a Ghost, but there is a Korean YouTuber that I follow that has caught quite a few largemouth on the bait. If you want, I can post the links or send them to you.

It seems to be a pretty universal method to soften up stiff plastisol baits. I'd give it a shot, nothing really to lose.

Skinner Baits - Chicken Rat is from the same line of thinking, but vastly different.

Bottomdweller Baits makes an 8". CAST Prodigy 8" also. These are supposedly very durable while maintaining good action. I'm surprised that you had trouble with the Scottsboro baits. I fished the 6" Fatty a lot and caught a ton of fish on them.

I fish a Woodrow 2 piece. The V-cut and wood material gives an "average" action (not subtle, not aggressive) and a distinct sound profile. Gets bit under pretty much any conditions if you're willing to grind with it exclusively on a given day.

If you're shore banging (like myself and a lot of others) the soft roll-up measuring mats are the way to go. But definitely make sure that you choose one of the 9" wide ones such as the WCZ or another brand that makes the wide ones. They are easier to read and look better in photos, whether it is for tournament purposes, social media, or just for yourself.

Of you're considering a different copoly, have a look at the Varivas Absolute BBM. It's a low diameter, low stretch copoly and really a new innovation in nylon line. I don't have a ton of experience with it yet, but @Jim137a does. Hopefully he will chime in here.

Really, @BayAreaAnglersummed it up pretty well, different styles of glides tend to perform better with certain styles of retrieves. Anything beyond that is going to need more specifics. Or, just fish the bait you want to, and then adjust your retrieve based on whether you have success with it or not.

Yeah, I bet it would. I heard some rumblings about QC and durability issues when it was first released. No idea if they were legit / substantiated or not.

You might be more interested in the Sneaky Pete or Poppa Pete, they're designed to be fished fast in current. Probably be a good fit for your situation. Decently priced.

Garrett Customs on IG paints 250s, he may or may not be willing to give you some info. I've never talked to him, but painters don't always want to divulge all the technical info, which is understandable.

I mean, there's the Deps Huge Custom series rods, but the price tags are not forgiving.
