  1. I got the same problem - I've watched countless videos on how to deal with Pike for swimbaits and I feel like it's a huge diceroll. Buying expensive lures from the US that aren't easy to access, makes me even more leery of dropping big dough. I can't just walk into Cabela's or Crappy Tire and pick up a Deps, S-Waver or Huddleston.
  2. I checked out Spiralite's website which is retro and doesn't offer much in terms of visuals. Do you have any images of the Maverick series?
  3. Really impressed with the Eagles poise yesterday. 1st Superbowl W #FlyEaglesFly New bet for a new thread... which team pays out the ass for Nick Foles services next year? Bills, Browns or 49ers? He won't be resigning in Philly.
  4. http://youtu.be/k6MuCm2g9xY I saw this video in another thread and it's gold, if you're in northern or pickerel infested waters. I can't seem to figure out the YT video embedding, anyway the link should work.
  5. Thanks for responding Andrew. I'm pretty new to fishing, only really started to dial in last year. I still want to purchase a full cranking and frogging set up this year, so I gotta pick one SB set up. Due to the species where I fish, I'm avoiding soft plastic baits. I can stand to lose a few Keitechs, but as much as I want to throw Hudds/Magdrafts, on a scale of 1 to 10 the likelihood of a pike drive-by is sitting around 15. I'm looking at 7" MS Slammer, Jackall Gantia, Dowz Swimmer, Gantarel, Mikey, Megabass Vatalion, iBrake and Grenade, BBZ-1 8" and 168/200 s-waver. So mostly glide baits, few cranks and natural swimmers. I think the BBZ 8", Gantarel and Dowz might be pushing 795SB but just about everything else will work.
  6. It's a pretty good deal, especially for those north of the border. I'm holding off for now, I had my heart set on the HD Custom - I prefer the aesthetics, additional drag and the metal drag star over the US version. I wish AmericanLegacy stocked the 806SB Fury and not just the Champion.
  7. At 2nd glance, I did see the button and added the rod to my cart. I stand corrected. Using the coupon option must appear after hitting 'Proceed to Checkout'.
  8. I tried getting the discount to applied to the 795SB and it wouldn't work when I added both to my cart. Can anyone confirm they got the discount on other items?
  9. I caught your YT video searching for reviews on the 795SB - nice review. I'm torn between 795SB and 806SB. I have a handful of 1-1.5oz swimbaits that I want to keep in rotation with the addition of some 2-5+oz lures. Does anyone have experience throwing lighter gear on the 806?
  10. What's up SU! I'm a bit of a noob to swim-baits, I started throwing a few this summer.. BBZ-Rat30, BBZ-Shad, Biovex Jointed Gill and a few Savage Gear baits on under-powered rod/reel for the last 2 years. I planning on buying my first SB set up this winter. I'm eyeing a bunch of recommended gear from the forum, but came across this rod preview on TackleTour that I thought might interesting to some over here. http://www.tackletour.com/previewsavagegearbrowserrodpreview.html word around here is the Okuma Guide Select is a decent entry-level SB rod. Seems like SG is a sister company to Okuma or a brand under their umbrella, which makes this Browser series interesting for a noob. Any Europeans on this forum that have fished SG rods before? I'll be interested to see the full TT reviews when it drops.
  11. I haven't personally thrown one, because I purchased the Spro BBZ-Rat instead but my brothers both throw them. I like the 2 eyelets for different retrieves, it looks way more realistic than the BBZ. I'm not crazy about the wet noodle tail or it's durability. As far as boating a hog.. can't say I have or seen one but it sure catches Northerns.
  12. We all fish them differently, most of us on the boat use a snap/swivel, and only one uses a wire leader. We boat more Northerns than anything up here, so you gotta be prepared for a pike-drive-by.
  13. Bone and hitch have been big producers for me and my brothers. The bone especially, we throw all 3 sizes same goes for the whopper plopper. In the pock of Georgian bay we fish, the water is quiet stained and murky, so it's likely why the bone works the best. Mind you we have them in many other colors, those just happen to produce the most. The Northerns love em too.
