  5. Ive been throwing swimbaits for a little over a year now and became addicted to it almost instantly. Over the winter i decided i wanted to get into the Art of building my own baits. Needless to say i fell in love with it just as much as fishing. My goal was to make a monster blue gill glide bait before spring hit. Anyways im open for any criticism on my Bait. Specs on my Bait: -8oz -7inches -2 size 1/0 owner st-36 treble hooks -stainless steel rod in the middle for the connecting joint - 20 pound stainless stee split rings (going higher on my next order of split rings weight wise) - 5, 1'' .072 open eye stainless screw eyes per bait. First i sketched out want i wanted it to look like then carved it out of basswood i purchased from a craft store near me. i do wish i wouldve put more detail and depth into the gill plate but its a learning experience thats for sure. Once i was happy with my master i made my mold. I went with a 2 Piece mold and it turned out extremely well compared to what i had in mind. Thats the first one i pored and installed hardware into next to the master. Took me a while to get my microballoons dialed in to get it where i wanted it. I made it so sits directly beneath the surface of the water and only swims about a foot deep. i plan to make some that swim deeper as well. So not being able to afford an airbrush i went and bought a few different colors of spray paint and cut out some stencils and came up with this paint job It was a little rushed as i was excited to finally go fish this thing after test swimming it for a few weeks getting it dialed in. NO LIE!! the first day i took it out for a swim in my kayak with this sexy paint job a monster came up and absolutely slammed it!! the greatest feeling ever boys. Hope you enjoy the cast to catch video as much as i did! 2019-4-2-17-15-31.mp4
