  1. Man you just keep slaying them on that one bait all year long, got us all looking bad buying more baits than catching fish!
  2. Since we’re on the subject, the megabass Valkyrie series has blended glass blanks and the 1 piece 6’6” is probably my favorite rod. It’s like 30-40% glass blend unless I’m mistaken so the taper is absolutely sick in terms of parabolic bend. Throws 1-5 oz which is what it’s rated for like a dream. Just pretty useless for hard hooksetting soft baits. I have not tried fishing g crawlers on This yet as it’s my main rod for big wakes and cranks but might actually be a sick option and not $500+ . The glass composite and long handle make it easy to cast similar distance as my 8’ rods. Cannot say enough good things about that stick
  3. Man for that price just get a spyderco pm2. Better design. Better materials. Better warranty/customer service. Best. Knife. Ever.
  4. So I’ve been using an older model shimano curado glass composite cranking rod and it works great but I had my eye for awhile on one of the Phenix glass composite cranking rods. Their heavy is rated 1-3 oz and they make a 7’ foot version that I really figured would be money for crawlers but I’ve had other things higher on my list to get. I have not used this rod at all but I have had many other Phenix rods and for their price point I really think they make some of the best production rods out their and the tapers on their blanks have always been spot on for their intended applications so I would assume the same for this rod @Sean k
  5. If you’re throwing them on braid, heavy crank rods can be a great option. I have a glass composite cranking stick and it’s great because it launches the baits, is lighter than most swimbait rods so it fished in a tip up orientation very well, and obviously the parabolic action lets them eat it very well and absorbs a lot of the vibration from the bait itself, and nothing keeps a fish pinned like a glass composite stick does. its a bit soft to fish them on mono though, you will want something a little more stout
  6. Seeing as the reel has not been released yet I don’t know how anyone could recommend it over the other. That being said the tranx is a pretty old model now and the monster drive technology seems to be the new standard for “big bait” models in shimanos current lineup. The scorpion lineup have a history of being the more refined jdm version of other shimano America releases (usually curado) so I would expect that reel to hit pretty hard at its price point. They’re both gonna be made at the Malaysian factory if that’s a factor for you, scorpion will not be “made in Japan” if your hoping for that.
  7. Gonna be in Denver for a few days in march, was kicking around the idea of ordering a multi piece travel swim bait rod and bring a few baits to explore or am I better of just bringing my trout gear? Anybody from the area that can testify to a local swimbait bite? Not looking to burn anyones spot just wondering if it’d be a waste of time and money
  8. A lot of what you’re talking about has to do with weight placement, if you put a ton of weight in the wrong spot it will affect the baits ability to turn/roll/glide etc. generally you want to find where the builder already put the ballast weight since you’d assume that was tested to find the optimal position during r&d. Like generally seems to be right in front of and behind the front hook hanger on most baits. But you’ll have to just keep experimenting till you get what you want. You might wanna look at grenade weights or wrapping your hooks with lead wire if you need to add a lot, I find stacking those board weights to be annoying and they seem to peel off more the higher you stack them.
  9. Is there somewhere you can purchase these?
  10. Not interested in abs baits like Reid or deps, looking for handmade like monka, vans, Kenyon, etc there was one I remember seeing that made frog crawlers that was really cool I can’t remember the name
  11. Would like to trade this 1 piece monster crawler for a 1 or 2 piece Monka or maybe another jdm crawler I haven’t tried yet. Has some paint chips but the hardware is all great shape and it swims perfect, just prefer my finicky little monkas
  12. Looking for some mk1 wheels other than black….probably not blue either. Silver/gunmetal/green/purple etc
  13. I have had a few 400s and a 200 and they are absolutely top tier functionality and feel. That being said for the price you could outfit 3 other setups. Or replace 1, 3 times over. Some dudes will throw a matching conquest on 7 setups and upgrade them all every time a new model drops but then what’s the point of spending the money on a reel that will “last a lifetime” just to replace it every couple years lmao. I have one conquest that I held onto and it serves a specific function for me which is high resistance lipped baits that I’m usually working on a slow-mid speed steady retrieve . The low ratio gearing and solid body stay smooth as hell under those loads and I can crank around for long periods better than on any of my low pro reels. It’s a 2015 model I got in mint condition for a really great price on eBay and it will definitely last me my lifetime if cared for properly.. Personal opinion on the dc specifically is that the sound is cool for about 10 minutes then it gets annoying lol. I also prefer not to have electronics in my mechanical devices if possible but that’s probably just me being a fud. I’d say if you’re wearing out your curado ks from fishing big baits on them then it might be worth stepping up but if they’re holding up it might not be worth the extra investment. That being said if you get one I’m sure you won’t be complaining about it
  14. I just use a lil jb weld and scratch up the plastic with my knife so some of the epoxy gets in the crevices and I haven’t had one come back out but ya it’s fairly common on new baits too
  15. I can’t say for sure but man those fish might just be glued since they don’t see that kinda weather often. I know northern strain bass tend to be little more cold water resilient but I think you guys have a lotta Florida strain down there. I could be full of ish tho lol have you tried throwing any conventional to see if there is even a bite to be had?
  16. Man that tail flash is a pretty cool idea never seen that before
  17. Sounds like according to the video posted above you need to get it back to the swim you like then start adjusting one screw at a time to adjust angle
  18. lol isn’t this the same guy who made a post about how stupid pink colored baits are?! every post just gets roasted too I’m pretty sure he just likes the attention of saying some reactionary bs and getting people worked up. Classic troll lmao ”Swimbaits are for pussys, change my mind”
  19. 22nd century (triple trout) nezuma rat. Pick your size and let it rip. The standard model fishes a little slower due to the lip style, still an absolute killer when you learn how to fish it. The wake only model is great for fishing it a little faster on top but they’re also a little harder to come by
