Using the river2sea swaver 168 lite trout on a pond recently stocked with 10 inch rainbows and browns for some largemouth. Saw a flash while bringing it in a caught a 14 inch rainbow. Clearly a holdover fish. Funny thing was the people fishing for trout couldn’t catch a thing. Don’t think I’ll ever have this happen again

I am currently at a Gloomis 8 foot XH swimbait rod (8' XH 965C SWBR) with a shimano cardiff 300a and 20 lb cxx. Would this setup be suitable for glidebaits ranging from the megabass i-slide 135/s waver 168 to 4 ounce topwaters? Lost a five yesterday when using a 3 ounce glidebait on a 7''6 mh jig rod because I didn't have enough power to control the fish as it neared my kayak. Also what conventional techniques would a rod like this work for?

I recently had an hour to go fishing today after I finished my online school work. I decided to head to the pond where I caught my PB bass last year (public 50 acre pond). Water temp. was around 45-44 air temp was 29 and it was snowing with a 25 mile per hour wind. Decided to start out with a big 7 inch triple jointed swimbait in rainbow trout color and had no luck so I proceeded to switch to a home painted Imakatsu Gillroid Jr. (first time out with the bait, had an insane action to it). With no luck on that bait either I decided to take out a 6.5 inch black rat wake bait to see what the action was like (also just custom painted it) on the fist cast into the headwind from the bank I reeled the bait slow back towards the bank, and about ten feet away from me a monster smallmouth around 5 pounds came up and smashed the bait, sadly I set the hook instantly on the fish and did't get a connection. As a beginner swimbaiter I honestly don't know how to fish a rat and what gear to use, I was fishing it on straight 30 pound braid with a fast action MH 7 foot rod. Any advice how to increase hook-up ratio with rat type baits?

I recently painted up vibrant brook trout imitation on a alternative lures I-Slide 135 blank, this bait is a very slow sinker in 50 degree water with the Mustad triple grip hooks included. The bait has some minor imperfections in the epoxy cost that do not affect action. Has magnetic hook hangers. PM if interested -
I am new to swim bait fishing and the cost of baits really makes it a hard technique to get involved in. I have experience airbrushing lures, applying epoxy, coats etc, so I figured that I should buy several lure blanks of swim baits and paint them up (a much cheaper alternative to buying baits)I recently found a reliable website that sells many different swim bait blanks. Currently I do not know what swim baits I should buy. Here are the options of blanks they offer: Imakatsu gillroid jr Megabass I-slide 4.5 Float (triple joint) Megabass I-slide 4.5 Slow Sink (triple joint) Megabass I-slide 7 Slow Sink (triple joint) Megabass I-slide 7 Float (triple joint) Megabass I-slide 5.5 Float (double joint) Evergreen Sea Drive 5.5 Slow Sink Imakatsu Nonkee 7 Slow Float BBZ 180 Float Fish Arrow Huddle Jack 4.5 Slow Sink I was wondering which of these baits would work best for New England Bass in the 4-8 pound range. I am looking in buying around a total of five blanks and would really appreciate some help choosing. Tight Lines!
