  1. Appreciate it my dude. I just ordered one from American Legacy Fishing for $176.36 after tax and FedEx Priority shipping. The Komodo SS 463 may end up being too big for it, but we'll find out soon enough!
  2. Anyone else have this rod? Looking for feedback on it for my Okuma Komodo SS463
  3. Any updates on this? Still looking a rod for my Okuma Komodo SS463 and I think the Bucca might do well.
  4. Got 3 throughout the summer and fall that were all roughly the same size. The only one I measured was this one, which was 22 inches and 6.4 pounds. I swear a 6 pound red fights harder and longer than a 12 pound bass! This was strictly inshore fishing from my skiff. Caught this first one in about 7" of water. I think this one may have been a little bigger. The picture is of a Yeti 65 which their website says is just over 23" long inside, and he wouldn't lay straight long ways, so probably just at 24". He fought like a damn freight train too.
  5. Before I just go order a Dobyns I figured I'd see what you all had. Want something 8'ish or slightly under/over. It'll be used in saltwater likely throwing up to 6 or 7oz baits, but I'd like it to do well for 2-3oz as well. I'm in Raleigh but get east a good bit between Fayetteville, White Lake, and Wilmington. Thanks!
  6. There's a Youtuber I watch named Lawson Lindsey who was using them in saltwater. He's sponsored by Karl's/CatchCo, so his opinion may not be completely unbiased. My thought is try one of them out and see how it lasts, then report back to us!
  7. That's funny you mentioned that because I hadn't even thought about the saltwater making the baits more buoyant. Wonder if any of the big manufacturers have thought of this and offer any work arounds? Got notification that the Okuma shipped today and will be here next Tuesday. I'll probably string it with 40# PowerPro to start and use a 50# leader. I plan on hitting the inlets both this weekend and next weekend if all goes well. Maybe I should go ahead and find my rod...
  8. I just ordered a Okuma Komodo SS 463 since I get about a 25% discount off Okuma. Got it brand new for just over $200. Going to wait until it gets here and then decide on a rod. I actually handled a Medium Heavy St Croix Mojo Bass rod (7'11" I believe) at Bass Pro yesterday and it seemed like a nice stick. Not big swimbait capable but it has me looking at the St. Croixs. I may just go ahead with a Dobyns. I'll check out the Shimao too, @marc626.
  9. Folks, newb here but very glad to be here. Got sent this way via MicroSkiff.com as I posted asking folks about an inshore swimbait setup, I originally asked them about a spinning setup, but was also given some good casting recommendations. I attempted to search here, but I wondered how many of you are using big swimbaits/glides for inshore fishing? I generally mean more than just big paddle tails, I'm talking the big Savage Gear, Megabass, River2Sea, SPRO, Jackall, etc. If so, what's your setup? I sent an Admin on here a message about considering having a dedicated saltwater section. I bet there'd be a lot of interest! Thanks folks, looking forward to some good reading and then some good fishing!
  10. Had someone on Microskiff.com recommend the Dobyns to me for an inshore casting swimbait setup and he essentially said "size up a bit" and that I'd be fine. Thanks for the feedback as this corroborates that.
