Was fortunate enough to pick up a Wood Acid rat and I wanted to compare it to its resin counterpart. At 1.8 oz the illude wood acid is .8 oz lighter than the resin rat. I noticed after testing that the wood rat sits much higher out of the water- allowing it (imo) wake much better than the resin acid. Action: The Wood rat is much louder and can be burned without it diving sub surface more than an inch or so. Definitely more of a standard “waking” rat Resin Acid is fairly “stealthy”. it wakes on a very slow wind but dives sub- surface on a medium retrieve. More of “swimming” or “cranking” rat. Both are great baits, look similar, but are different tools in the box. If you want stealth go resin but if you want that CLACK wood is the move.

Maybe I’m just stubborn but I’m having a hard time putting down my rats. Is anyone else still throwing them? How are you fishing them in colder water? I mainly fish ponds which are connected to the San Joaquin river there are plenty of muskrats in the area and I know for a fact that they do not hibernate in winter.

So I've been logging a lot of time in with the cl8 bait big possum and the xxl nezzuma rat. About 40 hours between them in the last month. I've spent about 28 of them during the day and nothing not even blow up or a follower. I have caught some only at night tho nothing huge like over 4.5 rat bite in general been slow this year. I understand these ain't your average rat bait but not getting any interest during the day got me scratching my head alittle. Its weird to me last year rat bite was so hot I had to upsize to keep the Dink's off but this year I could barely buy a bite any advice. Also what is a good 9 inch worm for replacement tails was looking at the gambler legde worm as a option but don't know how thick they are since no one here in my state sells any worms bigger then 7" you can only imagine the looks and snarky remarks I get when throwing swimbaits except for a few guys here know alittle about big bass.
