8.5 Shad Glide bait

I’ve started a new project. This is my third attempt of making a working glide bait. It is a 2 piece shad imitation. I plan on using urethane fins, and casting this for resin. The joint will be a door hinge style. The dark spots on the front were where I put the eyes that I decided to move and filled with homemade wood filler. I’m probably making this too complicated but I’m really excited to get this together. I’m taking my time with this, getting the right tools and materials as I go. Any tips on making molds and casting resin would be greatly appreciated! Thanks SU

Made some progress on this one. Sealed the scales that I have finished, still have half of one side to do. But I’m going to take a break from them and start on some fins. I was able to establish the eye holes by getting the bits I needed. The eyes are just for the pic lol! I’ll add them back after I pour my resin and paint. Hopefully my next update will be finished carving scales and fins cut out.

Wow it’s been almost a year since I posted an update on this lure. Had a baby and really had to put some things on the back burner! I’ve gotten most of the fins finished, I just need one more and then I can pour a mold for them . Almost done with scales!

I feel this. We had our second child and I just stuffed everything in the closet. She's 18 months now, and I work 100% from home so things are a bit easier. I plan on pouring a mold this week/weekend!

Baits looking good man, keep it up!

So major progress! Ready for field testing. Had to pour a couple, to get resin to microspheres ratio right. But after a bathtub test today I think I finally got the ratio I want. I will have some free time tomorrow to see how it really swims!
