Bassindon69
Any one suffer from sciatic pain? Can't sleep tonight, Shooting down my butt and hip. Hip is the worst, feeling like my hip is broken, knee pops. foot has pressure. Anyway it sucks because I did better , over a year with the last shot (had like 6 shots now most last about 6 months) in my spine, They put me out when they do it, THANK GOD. I have to pay now and start over with another consultation. I have done this 3 times now for the same thing, its just nuts to do so! Not only that I have to wait weeks before I can be seen for that to set the appointment for the shot. I'm at a point that not much will help and no date for relief yet. One fall can change your life, somewhat anyway. Was just up alone tonight with pain on my mind If I keep my mind occupied and move/ fidget its not so bad. But I'm afraid of the days/nights repeating "please go away, please go away" I know they are coming soon. I only hope i get in before that, its not looking good though
SwimbaitNewEngland
I'm dealing with it too. My pain is on the left side from just above my rear to just below my knee. I had a real issue with this a couple of years ago and wound up doing the PT route. There are stretches you can do which will help a lot. I'll see if I can find the specific ones and I'll post them here for you.
SwimbaitNewEngland
Here you go Don. Hope it helps. I did these once or twice a day for a couple of weeks and it helped big time. I wound up not getting shots and didn't take any pain meds after the first coupe of days.
Bassindon69
That's great, Thanks! a few new ones I have to try in there. The arch back works best, "Press ups" is what they called it at physical therapy (years ago). I called when I had to increase my exercise. I didn't think I would have to do a consultation again The neurologist told me My bone opening around the nerve is closed more than most to make it even more fun LOL! They want to open that up too if/when I ever need surgery. You trying to avoid surgery too? They tell me a lot of people after surgery still go in for shots anyway so do the shots only, if they keep working.

I'm the bread winner in the family so time off to recover isn't going to be good. I still try and do these exercises daily. I think it's the only way I've been able to avoid the surgery as long as I have.
stinkbait
I feel your pain Don. I broke my back 10 years ago at work. A concrete form wall colapsed on me. Crushed my T-12 vertabre. In a body cast for 9 months. Never been the same. On June 6 this year hurt again at work. Three herniated discs. Shooting pain everywhere. Doing the PT thing 3 days a week. Getting better slowly but sleeping is almost impossible. Haven't been fishing since either. Doctor says he'll put me on light duty when I go back. There's nothing light duty in concrete work. Hope you feel better soon.
chasenbass
Hey guys. Don't know if you know this or not, but wearing your wallet in your back pocket will trigger this. I used to wear my wallet in the back until I starting having problems. I switched to the front and the problems went away. chasenbass
wtrwsel
Back pain is no joke. I have been fighting it off and on since 94. It seems like it doesn't get better. Last episode I went in and had physical therapy and also do the exercises, which seem to help. I also have a portable TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) machine that does wonders when I'm hurting bad, 30 minutes on it and it seems to help. If you don't mind me asking, How much did that Tens cost you? I thought that helped too.
chefjayson
you can get a great portable Tens unit for under $100 bucks. I too blew out L4-5L and had the same pain and had to have multiple epidurals. Honestly the best thing you can do it always keep some sort of anti inflammatory in your system. Like aleve or advil but take like at least 600-800ml at a time. Also any muscle relaxers like flexeril or Valium. PT Is a must and stretching as much as you can will get the pressure off that spot. Also you should ice to bring down the inflammation! Just my .02 good luck feel better
Bruce
I use my deep tissue massage roller to help seems like that sand stretching are the only thing that can bring relief.

chefchris
I fell on my lower back surfcasting at night about 6 years ago, fell about 4 feet backwards while climbing up some slippery rocks when a stone gave way, bruised my hip, thigh area bad, still have a lump on my lower back tweaked it bad again early this year moving the crawdad into the bed of the truck. went to PT a few times. stretching helps a lot, like others said no wallet or anything in the back pockets the one thing ive found thats helped the most is sleeping with a pillow between my knees, helps take the pressure off, i use a basic pillow and just get it so its comfortable, its the one thing thats helped the most. flexerill gave me the craziest side effects, hearing people talk or thought people were talking to me, blurry vision, mood swings, trails, was seriously messing with me, now if i take it I only take it at night. good shoes that have support help a lot, i love my flip flops in the summer seeing we get 6 months of nice weather here if were lucky, but had to give em up for a pair of New balance walking sneakers this summer to help the pain. Ltrain
Be careful with the ibuprofen Don. Not good for the kidneys if you didn't already know.
