brand_new_guy
If they're stocking trout in your lake keep it simple and fish an 8" hudd rof 12 with a steady retrieve.

slideaction
Shads are striper candy, trouts are great where stocked. Any of those baitfish should work. Also check out the the FLIPSIDE section, there should be some caught stripers in there, u can always see what tupe of bait theyre using

Ong Jim
Where are you fishing? I have been having a blast on 9" Slammers and punker type topwater lures that I have made out in the Delta. But for some reason, 6" works better than 8". What also have been working is 6.5" Big Hammer with a weedless head (I fish weedy areas). However, when the tide is right, just about anything will work. smalliebigs
For me it is less about getting bit (stripers eat almost anything when feeding), and more about using baits that are durable. Mostly I stick to HPHs and TTs.
