bass100
Only dealing with reputable members is a safe way not to loose swimbaits I agree, I would never let someone, who was not reputable, tie my knots for me. hookedup, MichiganBassman, evilcatfish and 3 others
timcauliffe
Realiable knot, check knots, check line and check rod/reel. Can't count the number of times I've had a scare with a slightly twisted line or reeled-over birds nest. Lost a hudd and savage gear to this
biggfeast
I chalk it up as part of the game. Even after checking your knot, line, etc. you can have a dumb*** seagull pick up your bait and drop it in the middle of tullies.
JTSwimbaitMan
I know my friend uses these split rings http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Ultimate_SmartLink_Titanium_Rings_6pk/descpage-ULSR.html They break off the hooks when you get hung by application of pressure. Pretty sick.

bigpoppabass
I don't bomb my baits. Super long casts are also poor producers for me. Sometimes I push the envelope on tough days making risky casts too. Edited April 20, 2015 by bigpoppabass

Pretty sick. Those rings are crap. I think I've posted about this before, but they did not work well at all for me. I used these things per the instructions when snagged (slow, straight, steady pressure, and line rating higher than ring rating) but I ended up losing my baits. On the other side of things, I had them open up when a hooked fish was flopping on the floor of the boat and another time shore fishing when trying to swing a fish up out of the water. I contacted the company about these issues but never heard a word back. I'll stick with Owner Hyper rings and go swimming if I have to timcauliffe, Kylndux, MichiganBassman and 2 others

JeremyW
those split ring are the worst idea man ever came up with(ok ok helicopter lure is), I used them when they first came out many years ago ASK yourself this ? before you ever get caught on those TV info mercial split rings -WHAT WOULD your rather lose a fish of a LIFE time or a lure? hhmmmm I will stick with catching a fish of a life time . They are not any where close the rating they say are,Ive had 5 lb bass rip the 20lb rings to shreds. Do they work yes they do for little fish, if you fish lakes that hold 30lb + striper or 17-20 lbs large mouth ur screwd using these big lots specials . So my point is if your a swimbait collector not A trophy chaser keep using those split rings you will learn the hard way (but hay look on the bright side you have a nice swimbait to hang on you wall) Key here to remember is they are like snaps every hang up they get weaker and weaker . NorthTexasSwimbaiter
You certainly can use the titanium split rings, but I think they're rather redundant if you're on a boat, where you can have 8-10 different methods of lure retrieval. From the bank, where your choices are normally either go swimming (not a good idea where I live) or break the bait off, the titanium rings will save countless dollars, and potentially catch you more fish. Reason being: how many times have you been reluctant to throw a prized lure into nasty cover where a big fish is almost guaranteed to live because of a fear of losing your bait? These should allow you to cast with confidence and put your baits into the moster's turf. That said, whether or not it's a gimmick is up to you.
