timcauliffe
This may sound like a potentially stupid question, but has anyone ever removed weight or made your Deps 250 lighter? I have an OG that I'm dying to throw, but don't feel like pushing rod limits quite yet. The 250 is a little scared, so I don't mind modding it a little. Rod is rated 1-6oz. Could I shave the weights down?
swimbait 24/7
When it comes to shaving the weights on a OG 250 its done in grams, at best for a low floater or super suspender going to shave off 4 to 8 grams I don't think its going to make much difference on your rod "I think you need a heavier rod" thedonnguyen, SPEEDBEAD, johnnnydukess and 9 others

waynem
Tim - with a rod that is rated for 1-6 OZ, the sweet spot is probably in the 3-4 OZ range. I'd suggest you get a 175 slide swimmer which would be fine for your current rod. That 175 bait works really well on our New England bass too. Hang onto that 250 until you get a heavier rod. timcauliffe
