danthefisherman
What do you guys think? This is my best carve so far and am afraid to alter it any more and ruin it along the way. Should I go for scales and fins or leave it as is? Any other tips are more than welcome! I'm going to try making a mold out of this one.The bait is currently 3 3/4 inches. I'll be threading it through with stainless steal wire. lendaCew

Lakeshark
Looks really good man. I would sand the the body smooth to clean up some of the knife marks even though it wouldnt matter too much. work up to a 220-240 grit and it will clean it up a bit. Ive never messed with a thru-wire so I cant help with that.
Craig
^^ I agree. Looks good like it is so smooth it off and get painting so you can throw it at some fish.

Craig
Nice work Dan. They came out well. Next time maybe give the bait a quick sand to smooth out the knife marks after you have your basic shape, then carve your scales and gill detail. Lakeshark
The paint looks really nice. Impressed in the way your mold came out. What product did you use? Alumilite?
danthefisherman
Thanks! And yes, the resin is alumilite. I used Smooth-On silicone rubber compound for the mold and ordinary spray paint to color. Lakeshark
dominator
Wow. Really nice job! Scales are a Bi+ch. Let us know how she swims.
danthefisherman
Took her out for a swim on Thursday...and I can tell she has potential, but she still needs some tinkering done! I had a 17 incher interested and a 13 commit, but the 13 shook of when I went to land it.Pouring another with a different resin consistency.
