I’ll be there, camping for a couple days. Looking forward to it.

Good thread. I’m on two. Both on swimbaits. Hopefully hundreds more to come lol. Impressive numbers man.

Wow. That’s ironic. Sorry dude. Hopefully it works out.

Honestly, glide baits for me seem to work in a ton of different conditions. My favorite conditions would be a windy cloudy day. Maybe stormy. Prefrontal is usually good for whatever. But I feel like fish tend to want to feed “up” in the water column when the wind picks up. If it’s windy, I’m probably throwing a glide. I also like throwing it around obvious cover and structure. Little pockets, points, trees, and over submerged branches.

For me, a lot of it is how long it’s been since I’ve been bit. I’ll usually have something small, and something large tied on the deck. I’ll pick up the big bait and if conditions are right, I won’t put it down. Hitting a key spot with the big bait first, and will follow up with a smaller bait right after is something else I like doing. My PB came on a 6†bait so that gave me a bunch of confidence in smaller stuff. Forage is a factor too, if they are keying in on bait that’s a certain size, I’ll usually try to match that first and go from there.

Got mine! Thanks Jason! -
You’ve exceeded my expectations. Absolutely beautiful patterns. Fit and finish is really really nice

Sorry about the flipped images. Always happens when I upload stuff

Sounds cool, however I feel like most of my glide bait bites come from underneath. Would be nice for a heavier bait that you could rip and lift off the bottom or bottom bounce where they don’t have much choice in how they approach and attack the bait. Either way I’d love to see some pics once you figure out how to post them. You could message them or email them to me lukebrennan@rocketmail.com and I’ll post it for you.

I’m loving that profile man! I dig that it’s not so tall. Would be nice to see the scale work with some paint on it and whatnot. Such a clean good job. Way to go!

I really dig the subtle variation in the surface on the eyes and around the mouth. Really natural lines and shape compared to just cutting a hard line like most of us do. Whole bait flows together well. Looks really well put together man. Congrats

I don’t have a percentage to tell you where to place the joint. I’m basically saying behind center and the rest is up to you. You should cut the joint and bill before you add all the detail. That’s where sh*t can get hairy and you can ruin a bait.

Another piece of advice I have, when starting out bait making, is to strive for perfection. You won’t achieve it, but it will put you much closer to the end result you are hoping for. Don’t get too attached to your first bait either. You’ll probably just want to make a better version right away anyways.
