Need advice- Hook covers for feathered trebles

Contemplating starting to use the plastic hook covers on my more expensive swimbaits but worried they'll wreck feathered trebles. Has anyone cut them or anything to prevent breaking the feathers??

I've got some baits from japan and they cut a line in the hook protectors and flip them upside down. Seemed like a good idea to me. served the purpose

I've done these with the owner covers and it works perfectly. Cut a line in the cover where the shaft of the treble goes and it's easy to slip it over the trebles upside down. No damage to feathers.
