bigpoppabass
That sucks. Try not bombing your casts especially on the first couple of casts. BigBaitBassin and Loganodum38
zanwhite
That's usually about the time when I re-spool or get new line. Even if its not the issue, makes me feel like I've changed something before I go out again. Losing baits 2 trips in a row, especially on your first cast or two of the 2nd day, is the only thing I can think of that sucks more. Gives you lots of time to think... danthefisherman
Snapped off my first swimbait yesterday. Luckily I got it back, but things like this happen to everyone. That's just part of fishing. asavamedhi
urbanhick
I've only lost 2 since I have been throwing them, a deps 250 and a hudd. I have snagged multiple time but my lure retriever has got them all back. The money for me isn't the issue it's finding a replacement of a hard to get bait at retail. asavamedhi and thebeardedbassman
PNW bass
Been there... like Brian said, you’ve got to move on. Still, sorry for your loss.

swimbape
Lost a Triple Trout and Slammer I loved on two big stripers same day. Each were easily over 20. Got them onto the bank and was only using 20# test and tried to pull em up the bank and snap. asavamedhi
asavamedhi
This is something I do: every time I put new line on a reel, I tie on a 2oz weight and cast the ish out of it. I let it sink, then reel it in. I do this because I feel that if I wet the line and reel it in, it was cause less friction. Also, I can adjust brakes on my reel before I tie on a bait in similar weight.. Now, does it really help? IMO, yes. Does it make me feel more comfortable that I’m not gonna cast a bait off? Absolutely.
asavamedhi
I also will retie my bait after 50 or so casts. I will cut off atleast 2ft of line every time. I figure that piece of line is the most stretched out during casts. BOZ and Tuco
