Is this happening on the same rod/reel set up? or different set ups? Does the snap off happen at the same point of the cast? pretty much at the top? just after the release? Or at the release? I would go at it like a golf swing, take a little off, be more deliberate.

My dentist said I need a root canal and crown $2300, I laughed in his face went home and bought a Hinkle trout. Think I still need the root canal though.

I like the blood knot, mainly because it's easy and the Tactical Bassin guys use it. I go longer leader on glides than Hudds mainly for shock absorption , I think the 30# is a bit stout for small glides & hudds, i bet if you drop down to 17# or 20# you'll get bit more.

Like everything else, it depends. Gin clear water I'd drop way down to 12# flouro just don't try to set a casting record, It's just an S-waver any way. As the water gets dingy or stained you can go up. if you think you have to. A glide isn't grinding the bottom or banging cover. I come from a finesse background, the lighter the line the better a lure works and the more bites you get,

My obsession is big bass, putting a big bass in the boat. Just like he said swim baits are a big part the arsenal. I'm not a method fisherman, if I get that monster follow on a swim bait I come back an hour or two later with the sonar off and try to let the breeze blow me within range and throw a jig or what ever I think is going to get it done.

Be stealthy, no sonar, no trolling motor, night is a good idea. I think those smart big girls are more likely tho bite when there is minimal boat traffic (safer to feed). Maybe if you told me the lake and exact spot where you saw her I could be even more help.

I've got an 11" Hiro exactly the same "heavy floater" at first I was disappointed, but now I like it the way it is. On the retrieve it goes down about a foot and swims perfect on the stop a slow rise, I can also cast it like a nut because I don't have to worry about it going to the bottom. I think it fills a niche in my big glide line up.

I'm a line changer and re tie guy, light line gets more bites but it's more work, I believe this is true with all fishing, from spy baits, drop shot, rip baits to big glides and big bottom crawlers (huds & stuff). In my area Joe bruce was the king of swim baits, I lost to him many times....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNYG8Zqy7j4 he goes 15# on huds, and thats draggin bottom. The game is to get bit and catch the fish of a lifetime, nothing else matters.

6.3:1 minimum for glides. I'm building a Deps rig right now, going with a 7.6:1 tranx 300. I don't need the extra line cap, I go lighter line than most for 250's, down to 14#, 17# at the most. I have some 250's at the bottom though. I like a 5.1 reel for huds, not so much for torque but to fish it slow.
