chefchris
Seems like a lot guys use this for swimbaits and a bunch of guys hobby and commercial use it on striper plugs up here in New England i had to screen shot the forum, and crop the pics. But all the info is there. Hope this helps. @azfisher seems like a lot of guys have the same bubble issues you’ve had as well. danthefisherman

Not a problem man, was at work on my lunch break the other stuff guys use is system 3 with great success but that’s an epoxy I did see that the KBS also comes in a spray can, might have to try that myself

Definitely not the cheapest option, but it's less of a hassle and we haven't had any problems yet azfisher
porkmeatballs
Yeah, one can of KBS is about $20 on amazon...
fishhct
the bubbles are just a result of that guy taking the bait out of the clear coat too soon that's it. User error. You kind of have to let it soak a bit
azsouth
@chefchris is this the stuff you are referring to? https://www.amazon.com/System-Three-MirrorCoat/dp/B003L0XHUQ/ref=sr_1_5?hvadid=176316623232&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9030220&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t3&hvqmt=e&hvrand=16090607511343854626&hvtargid=kwd-1834340787&keywords=system+3+epoxy&qid=1550328972&s=gateway&sr=8-5&tag=googhydr-
danthefisherman
I believe this is what we're talking about: https://www.amazon.com/KBS-Coatings-8114-Diamond-Aerosol/dp/B06XR7SYF7/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmrnull_2?crid=1JM0XLVYRAN7A&keywords=kbs+diamond+clear&qid=1550329932&s=gateway&sprefix=kbs+&sr=8-2-fkmrnull Edit: misread...yes that looks like the mirror coat I think Edited February 16, 2019 by danthefisherman
azsouth
the last 2 quarts of KBS Diamond clear are giving me fits!!! first they have a strong yellow tint and it pulls away from the bait in random areas, so I have to go back over the bait with brush to get it to lay right. I keep my KBS in a mason jar in 70 degree controlled environment, it is not helping... humidity here rarely goes above 60.

It also have a learning curve but the results are great azsouth

I haven't experienced any reactions so far with soft plastics. It's why we use it despite it being so expensive.
azsouth
was talking with another KBS user yesterday, We are both having problems with the last cans of KBS. He tried spaying it, did not work well. funny how we both have lures from last year( previous KBS ) and the finish is flawless, IMO they sent out a bad batch the only proof I have are some messed up finished lures. Any chance they changed the formula based on can size? When I use to use spar urethane you HAD to buy the quarts cause it was a different (better) formula than the gallon size. Had to do VOC ratings. They might have had to tweak something to make it pass.
