Hi SU -

Just picked up a couple Tiny Klash's for my son to toss around this season.

Looking for some recommendations for the best TK setups (rod, reel, line).

Time to show off your TK setups...please post photos ;)

Thanks,

You could throw it on regular gear say 150 or 200 size reels, MH rod, and as low as 12 lbs test.

With that said you also need to keep in mind what type of water you are fishing and size of your fish.

If you are in open water with no structure or weeds then I would say the above is fine but if you are fishing in rocks, timber, weeds then I would say no.

I use a 300 size reel, heavy swimbait rod gloomis GL2 or custom moan with 20lb seaguar tatsu.

Because of how hard these TK's are to get, I'd second Brian's comment for heavier gear: 17 (min) - 20 lb test line, minimum 7'6 Heavy rod with a moderate action, or a "light" swimbait rod (7'9, rated 1-5 oz, moderate flex).  Reel size just depends on what feels right to your son/what feels right on the rod, but not smaller than a 150 size.

Lighter line will support more action, but when you're swimming for a bait that sells for over double its retail on ebay b/c you can't get them right now, you'll wish you'd bumped up. My 2 cents.
